"Zach Randolph gets the ball on the block just long enough to draw the double team, then finds O.J. Mayo for the jump shot. Mayo misses. So Randolph hauls down the rebound and puts in himself this time. 'Z-Bo!' yells the little girl behind me. She keeps this up pretty much the whole game. She yells 'Z-Bo!" and "Zach!' and 'Zach Randolph!' Then she yells, 'Daddy!' and Randolph waves. The little girl is his 5-year-old daughter, MacKenly. 'I like coming to the games when my daddy plays,' she says. Out of the mouths of babes, eh? Grizzlies fans -- and coaches and players -- like it a lot, too. The Grizzlies evened their record at 4-4 Monday night, defeating the Phoenix Suns, 109-99, and looking a lot like the team fans hoped to see when the season began. ... Randolph finished with 23 points and 20 rebounds. You don't have to be related to the guy to go crazy over that. "

Sly, right now, today, would you trade LMA straight-up for Z-Bo?

I am still wondering why more Zbo shit ends up on this board. The guy has been gone for half of his NBA career.

    No.

I wish Zbo all the best in life, wouldn't mind if he retired here but it was time for him to leave. It was best for us and in the end I think it was best for him.

Infamous Blazer during an infamous era.

And I thought it was a fun article.

I hope Z-Bo is a MUCH better parent than I imagine him being.

Right now, today, I'd rather have both. And the truth is we could have.

If we'd held on to Randolph, we never would've had to live with Juwan Howard at center last year, because you slide Aldridge over there and let Zach start at the 4. For the two years before that we never would've wasted our time on Channing Frye.

If we'd kept Randolph, there's a damned good chance we get out of the first round of the playoffs.

I guess on the downside, if we'd kept Randolph we probably don't get the pick to draft Oden or Durant. Which of course transitions us into another pointless "what-if" debate.

We traded ZBO the day we drafted Oden. Imaginary cap space. huge mistake. and I still stand by my theory is that trade is what got KP fired eventually.

Oh God, I couldn't handle a whole season with Aldridge playing Center. That would be sad.

About Z-Bo, the reality is, he could possibly playing for his 4th team in 4 years. That explains everything to me.

I thought it was terrible trade at the time, and I still do today.

That's right. I got my years crossed. So yeah, we'd have Oden, Aldridge and Randolph, but probably no Frye or Juwan Howard.

More sad than Frye's career in Portland? Or watching Juwan Howard try to play starting center?

Frankly, I think it would've been good for Aldridge to get more minutes at center early in his career. He's playing great this year because he's finally trying to own the paint. Imagine if he'd been forced to have that mindset a few years ago.

Sometimes... only when he plays well. When he plays poorly he is VERY tangible.

Wrong. He's an excellent defensive rebounder.
