I hear that Belotti is a candidate for the Colorado job. Also in the mix is Mike Leach.

I've read this on other boards, but as far as I know, it's more optimistic hope from Colorado and their fan base. Last I heard, Bellotti didn't want to move his kids while they were still in school. Just my feeling, but MB would seem to be a top candidate at most schools and I could see him heading East, when he's ready.

When BRIAN Kelly is fired from Notre Dame I think they will try and get Bellotti (again)

That would be crazy seeing Bellotti bring a team back to Autzen so soon.

I could see it though. I dont think he was quite ready to give it up yet. But this school didnt want to lose Chip, that would explain the AD job and the nice little payout as well.

I hope he does go to Colorado. I would love to kick his ass every year. I never liked Bellotti. I respect what he did for the organization, but I always thought he was a mediocre coach and I hated how he never took any risks. CK is the exact opposite and that's why I love him so much.

First item listed on Bellotti's resume -

"I'm the guy who hired Chip Kelly!"

    LMAO! Nice one.

It would be weird to see him come back on the opposing sideline. Coaching is in his blood. I do agree with NateBishop that Bellotti didn't take enough risks and that Chip has balls of steel. Chip's moxie is what is sending the Ducks to the next level.

Bellotti used to drive me nuts. I think it's hilarious how CK is like, "4th and 6 on my own 30? Shiiiiit. Go for it."

When you coach scared/conservative, the players play scared/conservative. When the coach calls the game with confidence, the players feed off of that. They don't get shook & they stay focused. Chip is the best coach in college football right now.

Oh definitely. His swagger really seems infectious with the team. They emulate his whole attitude. I love it.

Nate, my intentions are not to chance your mind on MB. Chip is the right man for the job at Oregon - now. MB was the right man for the time he was here. Look at home many current coaches, assistants - were on MB's staff. The guy is a winner.

I'll never forget an away game at UW in late '90's/early 2000's - I can't recall exactly. I believe it was the game Droughns broke his leg. A Duck player on special teams made a historic mistake, an all out brain fart, and deliberately roughed the punter after the kick was away. It turned the momentum of the game. The player ran off the field with his head low and Bellotti met him, grabbed his face mask, raised his head, made eye contact and embraced him. The player never put his head down on the sidelines and other players high fived him and encouraged him.

Personal issues aside, MB was all class with the kids and that's more than can be said for most coaches who put winning above anything else - even the young players, their health, esteem, etc.

I like Bellotti and think he did a great job here. Clearly, he was one of the top 25 coaches in the country. He built off what Brooks started and Kelly is building off what Bellotti started. Geeze, talking about knifing a guy in the back.

I think he'd be a poor fit at Colorado, but a better fit at ND. I hope he gets the job he wants- if any.

I don't like him. I never liked him. It's no different than disliking Nate McMillan. I think MB did a good job, but I never liked his coaching style. That's my right. Deal with it.

It was his idea to go to the spread to begin with. Its certainly not the spread we know and love today, but without him hiring Chip Kelly, there would be no #1 team we see today. I always thought Belotti was a solid coach and he certainly wasn't the conservative playcaller that many seem to remember him as. I remember several times that he made some ballsy calls on 4th and 1 and some great trickeration plays.

He was also a damn good recruiter. He recruited the big time players like the Jonathon Stewarts right out of UW's back yard and was great down in the Bay area with recruiting and then he found the hidden guys. Kellen Clemens was a 1A quarterback from Burns that sent Belotti video and got his only offer from the UO. Harrington was lightly recruited too. UO was the only Pac-10 team to reach with an offer and it was because they saw him play in a camp. Many thought he didn't have a good enough arm. I think a lot of that credit should go to Tedford as well.
