Suke and Isaac say the rumor they are hearing is that Brandon Roy needs microfracture surgery.

It made me think that the management must have known about his knees and was a huge factor in giving Wesley Matthews such a huge contract offer when we already had a more than capable backup SG in Rudy.

If he does, he does. Not much we can do about it.

Brandon probably did not want to do it yet and to give it a go first, can't blame him. As I have said it's why we got Wes, kept Rudy, and probably drafter Williams - "insurance.

I'm trying to find that thread on here that talks about Roy's knees. This summer I remember a person who used to work with the team or something like that ripped the team and Kevin Pritchard. He specifically said that Roy's knees were shot and only had a few 'good' years left, "at the most".

Matthews got the MLE. It may or may not be an overpay, but it was hardly a huge contract offer. He was paid solid role-player money, probably because the Blazers envision him as a solid role-player. Rather doubt that he was signed as a "Roy replacement."

At the time we certainly overpaid and heavily frontloaded the contract to make sure we landed him. He's shown flashes that he could be a bargain at that price but even he was shocked at our offer.

Sports buisness radio. He says Roy had 2-3 years left at most and his knees were in bad shape. It was a very good podcast. Right after kpee got fired. He also said lebron was 100% gone. I think we all knew he needed microfracture. Quick just doesn't wanna say it cause it the blazers flagship station.

well, if he dies then obviously we got the worse end of that deal.

Oh wait, I hope no one knows anyone who died recently. Because if they do, I might get yelled at for being insensitive like barfo.

If the team knew Roy might need season ending surgery, it's surprising they would have moved Bayless for a draft pick.

Why is he practicing and possibly playing if the blazers know this? That is so strange to me.

Heard a rumor or started a rumor?

    Who was their source?

I am willing to believe absolutely any unsubstantiated rumor, so long as it dovetails perfectly with my already-established preconceived assumptions of a given situation.

Bayless just did not fit. I see a much improved Fernandez playing next to real point guards.

Crud, I may be in trouble too. My apologies if anyone knows someone that got traded to a team that could tolerate their Pteradactyl arms and zero ability to run an offense.

At the time? You mean, with the information we had all those years back when we gave it to him? Now, with hindsight, it doesn't look so bad?

Irrelevant. Front-loading doesn't change the value of the contract in any particularly significant way, except insofar as money now is worth a bit more than money later. Over the length of his deal, that's not really a terribly important dynamic.

He's arguably been worse this season than last. If you see flashes now that suggest he may be a bargain, they were present last year, too. You probably just didn't watch him.

Regardless, an MLE deal for a solid reserve-caliber player on a good team who plays good defense is not a "huge offer" in any way, shape or form.
