That's not true, I would LOVE to see the KD lovers get the fuck out and follow OKC.

Speaking of which I've decided to take on OKC as my second favorite team (barring head to head matchups). I sure as fuck ain't rooting for Boston, LA or Miami. Maybe Houston for Adelman's sake or SA because Poppovich rocks.

Look, I'm as depressed as anyone about Roy and Oden, but for fucks sake people please no more Oden vs Durant. I think everyone EVERYONE agrees that if you do it now you take Durant. I certainly do. Fuck I hate to say that but it's true. The Roy thing is such a bitter pill right now. Whining about not drafting Durant is just that, it's whining. People should be looking up KP and or PA to beat the fuck out of instead of making my eyes bleed with Oden vs Durant debates.

Fuck that we should have drafted Magic after using advanced CIA mindcontrol techniques stolen from MK-ULTRA's project Monarch to get LA to trade us their draft pick in 79, we also should have laced Walton's bones with Admantium after forcing him to undergo gamma radiation exposure causing spontaneous mutation bringing about virtually instant healing abilities. Then from our underground bunker we should have had Zbigniew Brzeniski get Carter to issue an executive order demanding that all future 1st round draft picks could only be exercised by Portland for ever and ever Amen.

    PG: Magic
    SG: Jordan
    SF: Bird
    PF: Barkley
    C: Healthy Walton

Yeah, that's what we SHOULD have done, I tried to tell people at the time. But no, they lacked the VISION and courage to follow through with my plan. Stupid fuckers.

Well, not to make your head explode, but the Blazers could have drafted Larry Bird in the 1978. Instead, they drafted Mychal Thompson first overall, and then Boston picked Bird at #6 after his junior season, which was permissable then under NBA rules because Bird's freshman draft class had already graduated. Bird finished to ISU for his senior year, carried an average team to the NCAA Final, and well, the rest is history.

Want another mindfuck? The New Orleans Jazz acquired a washed-up Gail Goodrich via free agency in 1976 in exchange for 3 draft picks, as was determined compenstation by the NBA.

The 1979 draft pick ended up being #1 overall, which was used to draft Magic Johnson. The sick thing is that he Lakers were the runner-up in the Pacific division that year. New Orleans picking up Goodrich destroyed that franchise, and was the catalyst that ultimately moved the franchise to Salt Lake City.

How can you obtain someone in free agency for 3 draft picks.

Also, it was well known that Magic Johnson would have stayed in school if the Lakers weren't picking #1.

Because that is what the NBA decided was fair compensation. The current rules did not apply. Also, Magic may have stayed in school, but the Lakers didn't have the #1 pick in 1980. Golden State did. Instead of Joe Barry Carroll, they would have picked Magic Johnson. Had Magic stayed through his senior season, he would have been a Dallas Maverick.

I always was a huge Mychal Thompson fan.

    http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2010/03/trail_blazers_top_40_no_11_myc.html

Thompson came in as No. 11 on The Oregonian's list of Top 40 Blazers of all-time, a ranking that Blazers great Clyde Drexler says does not do justice to the 6-foot-10 forward.

"Mychal Thompson is the most underrated Blazer of all-time," Drexler said. "The man could do it all: score, pass, defend. He was legit. Legit."

Added teammate Jim Paxson: "I don't think he was ever really appreciated for what he did for us. Because of his talent level, people always seemed to want more from Mychal. But I always thought he was consistent, and he always cared a lot more about the team than what he did."

The problem, Drexler said, is that Thompson came in with enormous expectations as the No.1 overall pick of the 1978 draft.

"He was 18 (points) and 10 (rebounds) every night," Drexler said. "It's just that he was the No. 1 pick and everybody thought he was supposed to do that. So they never appreciated it. But if he came into today's game, he would be a 25 and 12 guy."

I'm still finding it difficult to accept we picked Sebastian Telfair over Al Jefferson. Every time I watch Big Al with his drop steps and spin moves around the basket. Aaaaaarrgh!
