So predictable. Anything those clowns on 1080 or 95.5 say about Roy's situation get posted immediately, but no one posts first hand quotes from Roy about his knee.

I'm glad Barrett was able to get one last interview with Brandon before he died. Of lupus.

Well this does nothing to add to the general consensus that we are lottery bound - therefore I will choose to ignore it. I mean, what kind of source is Brandon Roy compared to Big Suke or Dwight Jaynes? I need more teeth gnashing!

    sounds good....

no official results yet.... but obviously the big test will be this road trip and next few weeks. but from that interview... sounds like roy is gonna attempt to play through it. however should we have a shitty record by early december.... all bets are off. then those dreaded words could get thrown around.

You guys are soooo funny. Quit reading what Barrett wrote and learn to read between the lines.

This is what the smart fan gets from that fluff piece when analyzing it properly,

Roy wants the ball more especially right after having surgery.

Roy knew he needed knee surgery this summer but didn't want to be on crutches for his wedding.

And this next part really pissed me off,

"We feel like this is the best way to keep me strong throughout an 82-game season."

WTF Roy?!? 82 games? So now Roy thinks we're either not going to make the playoffs or if we do he doesn't want to play in them.

    Un-F'ing-believable...

This is nice to hear. It sounds like it's not as serious as Quick made it out to be. I can sleep a little bit better now.

I wish Roy would explain how he would become a better facilitator by running more ISO's?........Which he said he wanted to do. To me this interview is all about trying to repair Roy's slightly damaged image, and who better to do that than always unbiased MB.

The Portland media is about lies, distortions, stirring the waters and flat our lousy reporting. From Crapzano to that peeping tom, Quick- the worst in the country. So when the player himself speaks, I pay attention a lot more.

Roy is the kind of source who has every reason to put a positive spin on the situation. He just signed a big contract, he doesn't want to disappoint the fans, and (most of all) he certainly doesn't want to admit to himself that his knee may be a problem that is getting worse.

I hope he's right, of course, but I'm also taking what he says with a grain of salt.

I sure was not aware the consensus is the Blazers are a lottery team. Guess no one asked for my vote, or noted that the Blazers (now facing already their 4th back to back, having played most games on the road, and without a center) are in, hmmm, first place?

Don't let facts get in the way....

I generally agree that MB often asks leading questions to paint people and situations in a positive light, but I couldn't find any such questions in this interview. And to be honest, Roy has historically oversold his injuries rather than obscure or gloss over them.

I don't think this is a fluff piece, but a rather candid interview with a guy whose situation is being blown up by the fishbowl that is Portland media.

That was said with tongue planted firmly in cheek, as I was not the one asking if our best hope for this year was a lottery pick. No Chicken Little here.
