Yeah... he's not exactly Rasheed Wallace with the "me against the world" attitude.

I'll agree with this for the most part.

I don't doubt Greg, as a professional athlete and former #1 pick, wants to make good. But after seeing Wade, James and Bosh conspire to form a super team, and seeing Amare lobby to do the same... maybe his values are changing a bit. And also, let's not forget Roy signing a max deal knowing he was going to have a fourth and final knee surgery after he signed the deal and thus ending his career- or at least putting it in jeopardy. I see more and more players with a "get mine" attitude and being darn sneaky about it. It's become a very underhanded business.

Yeah, I don't see how Roy could have predicted that he would need surgery over a year ago.

You may be right. I was going off what the ESPN experts were saying on the radio last night. He signed the extension and soon after had surgery.

If by soon you mean 8 months then yes. He signed the extension in September and was injured the following April....

They reported that Roy pretty much knew he'd have the surgery but kept it from the Blazers. If this is true, then I've lost a lot of respect for him. But why should he care? He's the one making uber millions and laughing about it.

That would be awfully hard to prove unless they were inside of Brandon's head or maybe he really is as diabolical and low rent as you suggest but he was also foolish enough to pull a reporter aside and whisper in their ear, "pssst, don't tell anyone, but I'm going to get knee surgery to repair a non-injury, and I'm going to wait until three weeks before the start of the playoffs. Suckers!"

I don't follow your logic, for two reasons:

    a) the Blazers know exactly what is going on with the physical condition of any of their players, and
    b) Roy suffered an acute injury. Unless he injured himself on purpose, he didn't know he'd need another surgery.

But this thread is about Greg, so... it's impossible to read his mind. Is there a chance he is holding himself out when he's physically ready to play? Yes. Is it more likely that he's dealing with tendinitis and discomfort, and so is a little freaked out? Yes. Is it most likely a combination of these two things? Probably.

I don't really give a flying hoot whether Greg comes back this week or next month. In my mind, he's out for the season until he comes back, and then it will be a nice surprise.

I'll tell you where he's at: measuring his penis for another pair of diamond-coated undies. He lives Oden-style. Don't fuck wit' him. He'll play when he wants to. And then he'll get injured again and he'll go back under whatever injury-rock he crawled out from.

    ..but seriously, me too.

Just because someone has a radio show on ESPN does not make them experts on whats going on in Roy's head a year before he re-aggravates a knee injury...

Do you buy religion when they come to your front door to sell it?

I can tell you one thing. If I found out that Greg was going to play soon. I would be counting down the days to that game. Looking forward to that news.

where did this rumor come from about Roy knowing about needing surgery before his extension and not telling the Blazers? Do I have this right? and is this just crap or have some substance? Thanks

It's pretty sad, but if you thought your hopes rested on Oden's broad, injury ridden and moody shoulders prior to the Roy news it's gotten even worse. We have to pray, yes pray that Oden gets healthy in mind, body and soul. We also have to hope that the ever forgiving and patient fanbase hasn't perhaps ticked him off.

I remember when he was rehabbing from the possibly phenomenally fucking stupid KP decision for MF over a small piece of missing cartilage and he was LOVING this team and town. Of course back then only a few craven assholes in the local media/fanbase were being shit heads to him. Fast forward an injury or two later when about 75% of the fanbase has turned against him like fucking morons when they should be blaming KP/PA and I see our sole shot at being a decent team looking to get out of dodge. Well done fanbase you really crapped the bed on this one and helped to insure that we will get very little out of the Oden pick by bitching about it. We can hope and pray he embraces being the Man in Portland, or most likely we're going to get dick out of that pick.

If you all want KD, hunt down and KILL KP/PA instead of attacking your potential asset Oden.

I've long wanted to stooge slap the shit out of all the fucking idiots mad at Oden over KD's success. CLEARLY YOU FUCKING IDIOTS ITS KP AND PA'S FAULT WHAT THE FUCK? ODEN DIDN'T CHOOSE HIMSELF!!

Oh you could also direct your ire at the local media and the Blazers medical and training staff.

Nice to see folks in this thread are bagging on Roy in the same manner. You guys bagging on Roy now are fucking idiots.

Oh, I wasn't aware that KP was a medical doctor. Fascinating.

Oh I wasn't aware it was the doctor's decision to operate. Fascinating.

That's funny the interview with KP I heard directly after the event KP said "I told the doc to go ahead and do it while we were in there (during the scoping)."

    Yeah, that's right KP's decision.

Oh, I wasn't aware that the doctor would make a medical evaluation and then let an unqualified third party override his diagnosis and course of treatment.

The doctor noted a problem. He listed recommended courses of treatment. KP picked one. Or, the doctor gave one treatment and KP picked that one treatment.

But don't try to make it seem like a citizen told a doctor to perform a procedure that the doctor didn't think was medically necessary, because that's retarded, and grounds for the doctor to lose his medical license.
