Atlanta really declined an offer of Jason Thompson for Jeff Teague? I remember Jason Thompson having some quality games against us. I didn't realize he has fallen on Sacramento's depth chart. I think Portland should take a chance on this kid. He could help off the bench backing up Aldridge. He would definitely be an upgrade over Sean Marks. Maybe we could offer them Patty Mills.
Jeff Teague has great upside. I would have turned down the offer too. He'd a be a decent backup to LMA, but it would take more than Mills to get him.
Sacramento actually has a ton of depth at PF right now, and he is the odd man out. I do like his game and he would be a pretty good backup PF.
Other than Al Horford, Atlanta isn't exactly stacked in the front court. I think Thompson would help them tremendously. We do have the trade exception in the Bayless deal we got from New Orleans. Maybe we could package that along with Mills and a draft pick.
The Blazers have the Bayless trade exception that we can use to absorb his contact. We could package a couple 1st rounders for him. That Hornets pick isn't looking so hot right now.
They might be looking for money savings though instead of talent back for him, especially with all the weird rumors like the Kings moving to Seattle, which seem to point to money issues.
I do not see them scraping for dollars like New Orleans, the Clippers, or Memphis. As long as they are not taking on debt or paying the luxury tax, they are probably ok. I would love Thompson as a backup. Think though it would be better to wait until Feb though since Joel will be back soon and we can slide Camby to the four at times. Save our assets since we can get someone of Thompson's ability for the MLE.
I'm pretty sure you cannot package a trade exception with players. They can be used to trade for a player without sending out any players from the team.
Would you trade Cunningham for him? I love Dante's hustle, but Thompson fills a real position for us and is a big body.
With SAC under the cap - this can easily be structured as 2 trades that are in actuality 2. Thompson for TE. Mills and Pick for nothing. Tada.
