Rask did say that the cartilage degeneration is something that can just show up after multiple surgeries. I'm guessing that they had taken an MRI prior to the max deal, and nothing showed up. The extension was well over a year ago.

    We're cursed.

It's clearly not good that a doctor says that these types of situations generally have such grim options, but I'll wait til a doctor actually studies Roy's knees and gives a diagnosis before I decide Roy is likely finished as a high-level player.

Roy's knee buckled when he was going around a screen. His knee is unstable and this could lead to an even more serious injury. The L.A. doctor saying MF surgery wont help leads me to believe that Dr. Rask is more right than wrong when it comes to bone-on-bone analysis.

    Fuck me running. :sigh:

I'm not crying about anything. I am wondering why you are lashing out at me, but whatever. I know that answer. Anyhow, this is about Roy, and the future of the Blazers. If you don't want people speculating, you probably shouldn't visit a message board.

Did anyone who listened to that interview come out of it feeling better about Roy's future?

I'm just talking about before the draft. At that point Roy had had two knee surgeries one on each knee. They're saying Steve Patterson said their only red flag when it came to Roy was his ankle. If that's the case I want to know if they did their own report on him, and if they did...wow.

With one terrible knee, Paul is wrecking house. Perhaps on two bad knees, Roy can merely be an All-Star.

Oh. Yeah, I agree with that. Previously knee injuries should be at least considered during a draft. I don't believe any of what Patterson says, though. He's the cicada who only shows up when bad news surfaces for the Blazer organization.

Depends on the extent of Paul's "bone-on-bone", though. Perhaps Roy's case is more severe, even in just one knee.

Ultimately all of us are speculating including Rask but bone on bone is pretty straight forward. It's not going to magically stop hurting(in fact it only gets worse with time) and there's not really a surgery out there to fix the problem. I'm not really sure what to hold out hope for.

I think it's important to remember that Dr. ElAttrache viewed MRI's of Roy's knees that were six months old.

He's certainly looks a lot worse now than he did back in April/May.

The LA doctor did make a diagnosis. He said that micro-fracture would not help either sore knee. I can't see how that is a positive. It's not up to the LA doc to tell Roy to retire. The Blazers would have to initiate that process, and we're at least two seasons away from that, IMO.

6 more months of bone on bone. Sucks, doesn't it?

I listened to the interview with Rask as well and it was immensely deflating. Not to mention Suke spent the prior hour of the show talking about his experiences dealing with the same issue Brandon is dealing with and how it basically ended his football career.

But perhaps Roy's case is less severe. That's what is still to be determined.

Wait, his knee is unstable? Thanks for that amazing diagnosis. Of course that flies directly in the face of the New Orleans team doctor that examined it after the game, but you clearly have a better understanding of the situation. Good thing we have you here!

Actually, it has been determined. The LA doctor said that micro-fracture would not help Roy's knees. Roy is quoted as saying this, and that his knees are something that he will have to deal with for the rest of his career.

Watch the replay of Roy coming off that screen, his left knee buckled off of a simple move.
