Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* 1. Toronto Raptors- Andrea Bargnani, PF from Italy. Why? BC loves him, he is a great talent.2. Chicago Bulls- Tyrus Thomas, F from LSU.Why? There was a rumored promise, backed up by Danny Ainge saying on the radio that there is no way Thomas would slide past 2.3. Charlotte Bobcats- Adam Morrison, SF from Gonzaga. Why? He can shoot, and he is instant offense. Charlotte is a poor offensive team.4. Portland Trailblazers- Rudy Gay, SF from UConn. Why? SF is probably their weakest position. They will likely take Aldridge here if he is available, so really idk why i picked Gay.5. Atlanta Hawks- LaMarcus Aldridge, PF/C from Texas. Why? Atlanta needs a post player, Aldridge can play inside, some outside, and block shots. He's what they need. Do you really think they'd pick Williams if Aldridge was still on the board?6. Minnesota Timberwolves- Brandon Roy, G from Washington. Why? He would bring toughness and defense to a relatively soft team. With Rashad McCants out for a while and Banks leaving, they could use some depth in the backcourt.7. Boston Celtics- Marcus Williams, PG from UConn. Why? They need a playmaker and a pg. It's obvious.8. Houston Rockets- Randy Foye, G from Villanova. Why? He is an excellent defender who is ready to contribute on both ends now. He can score, he has amazing handles, he can penetrate the lane well and hit the outside shot. He's a great fit.9. Golden State Warriors- Patrick O'Bryant, C from Bradley. Why? They need a true Center who can clog the lane and run the floor. O'Bryant fits the description.10. Seattle Supersonics- Rodney Carney, GF from Memphis. Why? Carney has an amazing skillset, on both ends of the floor. Seattle needs defense and depths on the wings.11. Orlando Magic- Ronnie Brewer, G from Arkansas. Why? Brewer can play defense, penetrate, handle the ball, has pg skills at 6-7. He'll take some pressure off of Jameer Nelson and he can guard the other teams pg, sg, or sf.12. New Orleans Hornets- Mo Ager, G from Michigan State. Why? They need a shooter, or really anyone who can score next to CP3 in the backcourt. Ager is a great all-around player who would likely contribute right away. He plays hard on both ends, the two-way player that Byron Scott likes ( i kinda stole that phrase from Smooth but i completely agree.)13. Philadelphia 76ers- Shelden Williams. Why? They would like some interior defense, and aging Webber needs a predecessor.14. Utah Jazz- JJ Redick, SG from Duke. Why? SG is Utah's biggest need, and they would like a shooter. Redick is also used to playing within a system, he would fit in well with Sloan's offense. 15. New Orleans Hornets- Cedric Simmons, PF/C from NC State. Why? They need interior defense, Simmons gives that to them. Supposedly Simmons has been doing well in workouts.16. Chicago Bulls- Mardy Collins, G from Temple. Why? Collins is the defensive-minded player that Skiles loves. He's very durable with good fundamentals. Almost ideal for the Bulls.17. Indiana Pacers- Jordan Farmar, PG from UCLA.Why? Farmar is a good leader. He'd be great for the new slate Indy is going for. They will also strongly consider Rajon Rondo.18. Washington Wizards- Oleksiy Perechov, PF from Ukraine. Why? Best post player available. They keep piling on offense tho.19. Sacramento Kings- Sergio Rodriguez, PG from Spain. Why? He's an amazing passer and playmaker, he could be a terrific spark off the bench.20. New York Knicks- Saer Sene, C from Senegal. Why? He's definitely a project, but i think New York will be willing to try it out. He'd eventually be able to protect the basket very well. He's already a shotblocking machine.21. Phoenix Suns- Quincy Douby, G from Rutgers. Why? Another finisher to go with Steve Nash. He can shoot like crazy, and he's a scrappy defender.22. New Jersey Nets- Rajon Rondo, PG from Kentucky. Why? JKidd needs a predecessor, and Rondo can play some defense. He has good quickness and has some potential.23. New Jersey Nets- Alexander Johnson, PF from Florida State. Why? I don't know alot about him, but i know he's athletic and a good shotblocker. Seems to fit in well with NJ.24. Memphis Grizzlies- Hilton Armstrong, C from UConn. Why? Memphis' weakest spot is the Center position, Armstrong has alot of size and athleticism, therefore he has potential to be a good player.25. Cleveland Cavaliers- Kyle Lowry, PG from Villanova. Why? Lowry is a good fundamental player, a good distributor. He doesn't have to really dominate the ball, he'd be a good compliment to LeBron and the Cavs.26. LA Lakers- Thabo Sefolosha, G from Italy. Why? Just heard about this guy, but he is supposedly a very good ballhandler and passer. He has improved alot as a shooter.27. Phoenix Suns- Josh Boone, FC from UConn. Why? Boone runs the floor well and can play defense. Seems like a good fit.28. Dallas Mavericks- Shannon Brown, G from Michigan State. Why? BPA. Just another great young talent to add to the already impressive young core in Dallas.29. New York Knicks- Shawne Williams, SF from Memphis. Why? Williams has a very nice skillset, with alot of potential at both ends of the floor. Could be a very good player.30. Portland Trailblazers- Marcus Vinicius, SF from Brazil. Why? Vinicius broke his finger during a workout, so his stock slipped alot, but he still has alot of potential. He could be a big steal.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* Hilton Armstrong got beaten badly in a team workout with Paul Davis and his stock is dropping, he's clearly behind PF Cedric Simmons at this point. Rudy Gay is not much of a perimeter threat, most of what he does is in the post but he can shoot. Mardy Collins stock is dropping, his workouts have been going poorly and Maurice Ager who along with his great work at MSU has been amazing in workouts and is now rated higher than Collins. And finally Richard Roby has been doing horrible in workouts, he's to the point where he's near the end of the first round and it's so uncertain for him that he might go back to Colorado. Other than those few points, can't go wrong with any of those picks.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* thanks for the info on the workouts. I didn't know how they had been going.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* Celtics don't need Bargnani. The only way I could see them having a need to draft the guy is if we deal LaFrentz in some miracle trade somewhere. Bargnani would just further push Perkins, Jefferson, and Gomes away from playing time they've earned and deserve.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* Other than PG the Celtics have no needs but if Bargnani fell to the Celtics in some miracle they would definatly pick him because he's such an amazing talent.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* I think Bargnani is a great fit. Just think of him as Raef, when he's hot. It will create mismatches and Jefferson will get freed up more on the blocks.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* not only will bargnani not be there, but he won't fit with the c's at all. were set at the 3 and 4, and u dont bring in a prodigy to play backup center when he isnt a center to start with
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* who cares if we're stacked at the 3?? Bargnani is a PF/C, and he's a great fit. We need a midrange guy, and he fits that description perfectly. And that was SOOO hypocritical of you. you said we're stacked at the 3 and 4, and you say we should pick Adam Morrison!!
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* Bargnani and LaFrentz have very similar games, big, can shoot...etc...The Celtics would be thrilled to pick him.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* yeah, a cheaper, younger, more athletic lafrentz. What's not to like?
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* I don't know, let's just ignore the people like what Ron White says. :happy0144:
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* Just saw this.... Shannon Brown would be a steal for Portland at 30.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* I don't see the Raptors going with Gay, more likely Aldridge, although I can see why they would. I think the Mavs would go for a shooter instead, but really mostly I agree with you.
Re: *NBADogmatists mock draft 6/24/06!* Can't see Cleveland passing on Shannon Brown or Thabo Sefolosha for Lowry.
