Mo Williams is exactly the kind of guy you avoid if you want somebody with proven playoff success. In each season he reached the playoffs his PER fell by a full 4 points over his regular season PER. That's over 30 games on 2 different teams, and playing much of that next to the greatest player in basketball.

That's consistently under-performing when the games really matter.

Unfortunately that dude the next best player who is both somewhat available and has been on a successful team.

The point guard position is going to be very, very hard to fill with a quality guy.

    Sad but true.

They wouldn't unless someone got injured.

Considering recent history, I am guessing they would be getting some minutes.

San Antonio won a bunch of games with low scoring and excellent defense.
That type of team seems like it would be easiest and cheapest to put together.

A high flying showtime team would be way better to create but far more difficult and expensive.
I honestly don't believe that Portland has the pieces or the money to build anything but a grind it out type of team in the short term.

I kind of assumed this was supposed to be within the next year and a half.

Which is why I think the best plan at the PG position is to ride Miller until Armon Johnson appears ready to take over. It may wind up that Johnson isn't talented enough to hold onto that starting job, but it's the best plan I can see for now.

If I was Cho, I would figure I can buy about a year or so of safety by firing Nate at some point, bang as many Blazer dancers as I could, talk to the media as little as possible, and party hard until Paul Allen pulls the plug! :NOTMARIS:

KP banged Blazer Dancers, but he sure didn't stick to the rest of that plan... maybe he would have KEPT his job.

    Build around Batum....

and wait and see how Oden comes back...IF he can come back and IF he can stay healthy, big IF's at this point (but upside being big enough to make it worthwhile waiting for)....then you have 2 legit and young options to build around going forward.....

I think if POR is going to rebuild they need to position themselves to go after a young PG (via the draft or trade) as priority #1...I like Armon Johnson, but POR needs a big time PG...

I think they are stuck with Roy, I mean who is going to trade for him with 5 years on his deal and bad knees? No one....

Everyone else is tradeable....the good thing is, if there is any, is that both Batum and Oden are young, you could reset the deck and build with them again...

    Man this sucks....

I would have dealt Rudy for Avery Bradley in a sceond....any young PG that this team could take a flyer on, I think they need too....
