Andre and Iggy played together before and that team got nowhere. Why would we want to transform the Blazers into the 76'ers of two years ago?
I suggested Pryz and Rudy for Iggy last week. Didn't garner much of a response from the group here. But I think this to be an excellent move. And while we are at making this move....extend Andre Miller. Provided we can keep Batum, we need to get Iggy.
Even with a weak front court and a poor coach, they took a pair of 59-win teams to six games. Iguodala and Miller were, by far, the best players on those teams. Our front court is much better, and our coach is perhaps a tiny bit better than Mo Cheeks (although I'm not a big fan of either, especially when it comes to the post season). BNM
Iggy is now out with an achilles tendon injury http://www.nba.com/2010/news/11/16/iguodala-achilles.ap/index.html?rss=true Even the players we want are getting hurt
1. Lots of low end playoff teams make their series last a while before getting knocked off. In fact, it is pretty rare that a team is swept these days. 2. Every team has to have a few players who are the best players on their team. Does it really mean anything unless it is a talented team? 3. I will give you that we have a coaching advantage. Mo Cheeks couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.
No not fixed. That is another point completely though. Denver with that group never got out of the first round either.
Because two players don't make a team. Adding Iggy to this Portland team would make this team deep and I think back to a top 4 contender in the West like we should of been before Roy got hurt. If I remember correctly that Philly team took Orlando to 7 games, a Magic team that eventually went to the finals. Miller and Iggy were basically the first options on that team on offense.
Are you arguing that Iggy and Miller had just as talented of a team around them a couple years ago as they'd have here in Portland?
Pau Gasol never got out of the first round either until he went to LA. Combine Iggy+Dre with Batum+Oden and we could be close to contention. I'd much rather see us take that direction then the rebuild some are calling for... how long have the Twolves, Clippers, Knicks, etc been rebuilding? How many teams have tanked for multiple years and built title contenders? Rebuilding by gutting a team almost never works.
And Aldridge. That is a very talented starting five and I agree that it gives us the best chance to vault back into contention if Roy is no longer a factor. Obviously, it depends on Oden, but any path to contention any time soon does.
Iggy thread makes me think of Iggy Pop, which then makes me think of Search and Destroy, which then makes me think of The Stooges, which them makes me think of John Nash, Steve Patterson, and Bert Kolde, which then makes me sad.
Cool story, bro. No, seriously, as streams of consciousness go, that was pretty interesting. If we get Iguodala, I hope we get some Iggy Pop related nicknames.
