I wonder if it's "no need" for surgery, vs "no point" in surgery.

Well, hopefully that means the inflammation isn't chronic and due to an advanced degenerative condition.

I'm left wondering, 'What does he need, then?' Another summer off from basketball? Followed by a lock-out year of rest? His knee hasn't been ok for how long? A year? What is the treatment that is going to miraculously heal his knee sufficient for him to endure the rigors of NBA basketball? Or maybe the question I have is, 'No surgery needed for what? Retirement?'

The issue he had last year was with the other knee. It does not sound like the problem has been around for that long.

Really sounds like the Blazers and Roy aren't sure what to do.

Rest him for now and let it calm down but not sure what to do when he has to play because all it will do is flare up again.

If thats true then he either should plays very reduced minutes or reduced games.

I could like the idea of a limited minute Roy off the bench. That second unit last night could have definetely used him.

You are confused again. There is no problem with keeping the knees straight. They need them to be able to bend and unbend rapidly, under stress, at full speed. Keeping them straight is easy.

Learn the game, bend a knee and godspeed (or kingspeed).

From what I read he's had problems with this knee since 2008 before he hurt his right knee.

I would have much rather there been a solution lke when I take my kids to the Dr and he says they need antibiotics rather than "I'm not sure what it is? Monitor it and if it gets worse in a few days I will look at it again", but oh well.

Sure, but it did not flare up and prohibited him from playing at a high-level. He had knee surgeries in the past. It is clear that it is not as good as new. But, the specific issues that slowed him last year where a hammy and the other knee, not this knee.

Maybe we should take Brandon to your Doctor.

And by saying no surgery and missing the next two games that will give him two weeks off since the last NO game and they're just hoping after that the problem will just go away. Even if it does for a little while(I wouldn't bet on it) I'm sure he'll be having the same problem at some point later season and the Blazers will be back at square 1.

I'd say goodbye to Roy playing more than 60 games a year if the only treatment they can use is rest.

Remember when Roy had his heel problems? Same thing was said then, but how much problem has he had with it since he was able to rest it?

    60 games a year? And I thought I was a Blazers optimist.
