Fuck me. Fuck my being a seven year old and getting hyped watching Blazer games with my older brothers who were TOTALLY into the team. I experienced the high of a Championship at a very young age, and I've been chasing that feeling all through my life, and it's getting REALLY REALLY tiring to do so with my emotional investment year after year and get this kind of result.

I thought that last year was as low as it could get for frustration, dissappointment, and pain in being a Blazer fans. Last year was in many ways worst than Game 7, 2000. That hit like a fist and then was over, all you could do was just heal. Last year drug and drug and drug and more injuries and more bad news and then brief moments of sheer hope and gut determination, and then the piss-slap of reality when they ultimately lost.

All that kept me sane was the thought of next year (this year) when the team was healthy, rested, Oden would be back and the monster we knew he would, Roy would be motivated, Aldridge would become a back-to-the-basket Lucas-style Bull, and Rudy and Batum would be fucking raining threes like a monsoon.

Yeah, we see how well that worked out.

I want to go to Vegas and spiral out of control right about now. Mounds of coke and hookers may help a little bit. This fucking sucks. My whole basketball life has been yanked.

No kidding. I follow the Blazers to get a diversion from the routine and crappiness of my life. But being a fan of this franchise is just adding to the pain.

I think I'll hurl If I hear any of MB's "He'll come back stronger, he's a WARRIOR" pep talks.

It just sucks. No need for the sugar coating.

I've been a Blazer fan for 40 years, but I can't remember a time when I felt this low about the team. The Walton injury saga was tough, and losing Game 7 to the Lakers was a huge blow, but this is much more devastating because we're talking about the future of the team. It's not a lost series, it's a lost decade. Who knows when we'll ever get a chance to draft a player of Oden or Durant's talents again. We thought we had a nucleus for a championship with Roy and Oden, and it turns out we had cotton candy, instead.

This is just excruciatingly difficult to take. May call for some major readjustments on my part. I invest so much emotional energy in this team, and I can't keep getting slapped in the face over and over.

Following the Blazers IS the routine and crappiness in my life. Those days are over now, I could take a half speed Roy and I could take another Oden MF surgery but I can't take both. I don't have the time or energy left. I was just bitching at my Laker fan coworkers today and telling them how they should thank their lucky stars that they have had it so good. Then they told me that Durant would sign with them in 4-5 years when Kobe was old.

I told them that I would rent a truck in LA and crash it into Durant's Bentley or Maybach or whatever else he drives if that ever happens.

Come back stronger? The guy fucking injured himself in REHAB. It wasn't even in a game. His knee cap flew apart when he was jumping into the air. What is the point in him trying to return? His body obviously cannot take much stress.

He needs to become a dentist, and get a hobby that is safe for him, like swimming, or knitting.

Me too. I could actually drive and go see a game. Blake Griffin would probably die in a car crash on his way to that game though. But at least I would be in a car crash with a famous athlete.

Who are all you people who thought Oden would be our saving grace? This really shouldn't be shocking to anyone, just like Brandon ever being the same player shouldn't be shocking to anyone.

Portland is a solid team that will battle for the playoffs and maybe win a series or two period.

Don't dwell on it. Find closure and move forward. When Greg had his last injury, I was devastated. Depressed, bummed out beyond belief. I realized I wasn't having fun watching basketball anymore, and that I had to make a decision. Either quit watching hoops, or find a way to make it enjoyable again. So what I did is instead of daydreaming about Oden coming back all the time and waiting patiently for that, I did the opposite. I planned on Oden never coming back again, and instead of expecting the team to win the finals, I lowered my expectations there as well. Now I enjoy basketball for what it is again. A show, where I watch amazing players from all over the league make amazing plays every night. I know the Blazers aren't going to win jack dick, and so now when they don't, I don't get bummed out over it anymore.

I agree. I was hoping Oden would play this year... but I wasn't counting on him adding anything. Joel is coming back... so really we are fine at the center spot. The Roy news however... that is something I am having a hard time dealing with.
