At this point he probably wants to wait to see if a spot opens up on a contender.

No, the Blazers decided to sign Marks instead of Dampier because Damp wants to play and would not be happy not playing. Now that Oden is out that opens some time for Damp.

    Do it!

When Joel comes back I would still expect one of LMA/Joel/Camby to miss a few games here or there, so we really need another big!

Plus it would be nice to keep LMA under 40mpg and Camby/Joel at or under 30. Joel might even be fine under 20.

Sure, bring in Dampier. That would better allow Portland to deal Przybilla as an expiring contract without leaving the team short-handed up front.

Yes. Cut Marks and go with Damp finally. Should have been done ages ago.

He'd be a nice pickup at this point. Wasn't so sure before, hoping to see G.O. back next month, but now? Why the hell not.

I'm not sure what the delay is/was, either. It's hard to blame the Blazers without having more facts, but he would have been a much better acquisition than Oberto or Marks.

Considering how much Marks and Oberto played with only Camby at center, it's not hard to figure it out. We are expected Joel very soon and we were expecting Oden. Even if management wanted to sign Dampier, I doubt he would want to come here if two other centers, who would likely play ahead of him, were expected back soon.

I don't see Dampier even considering coming to Portland with our recent string of injuries.
