I have always felt that Im unlucky when it comes to teams I root for. Being a bills and blazers fan has made me somewhat numb to these kind of things over the last 20 years. I mean I watched Norwood's missed FG vs the Giants, the Jordan finals vs blazers, music city miracle, blazers blown game 7 vs LA which was 5 months after the miracle, and countless other gut wrenching losses. But I have always looked forward to the next game. Thats why we come back because theres always hope next time things will get better. My heart has been broken more times rooting for both these franchises then your ever know. I accepted Odens fate long ago. I wish I was wrong about it but the final nail in the coffin was when he wasn't ready for camp this past October.

The truth is when you go through hard times with a franchise, it makes the good times more special. The night we won the lotto was the closet to a championship I ever felt. Thats the moments we cherish as sports fans. Special times when all the suffering, heartbreak suddenly seemed worth it. I don't know what happens now to this team but just as bad as we feel today given the oden/roy news..... im sure wether its the deadline, a win vs the lakers, making the playoffs, or some unexpected move this summer we will all remember why we love the blazers soon enough. All i can say is.... we gotta hang in there and try and beat Denver tonight.

Women don't understand it, but men take their sports very seriously. We live and die with our favorite teams. Blazer blood has been flowing in my veins for 40 years. Yet this latest news about Oden has made me finally stop and think about my fanaticism for this team. There have been so many "near misses" and heartaches with the Blazers over the years that you start to think you might just be crazy for caring so much.

All I can say is, it's a new chapter. I started a thread about a week ago called "Time to rebuild?" and it's now crystal clear that rebuilding is the only option. I suppose that hope springs eternal, and I will be watching closely as the Blazers try to put the pieces back together.

But right now I just feel numb.

I'm not so sure about that. Lakers and Celtics fans have had multiple championships to celebrate, and I doubt they'd tell you that years and years of suffering are required to really appreciate those banners hanging in the rafters.

I hear you. I'm a bigger Duck fan than Blazers, but both are teams I've supported, going on three decades. I've been a Duck fan that has not given up during 3 and 5 win seasons, miserable showings, bad news, injuries and blowouts.

I vividly recall, not long ago, sitting in Autzen with, at most, ten thousand other fans.

Those years of pain make the pleasure of being #1 and having such a prolific team all the better. Sure, it would be fun to be a new bandwagon fan, but to fans like me, this season is an incredible season.

I hope it's a feeling that well deserving Blazer fans will one day come to know. I just don't think it will come at the hands of Oden or Roy.
