Disclaimer: 30 year Blazer fan. I had predicted that Oden would play in no more than 20 games this season. Looks like I was way off. Several posters demanded an apology when I was dead wrong. But, it looks like I still owe an apology. This is not flame. I'd like nothing more than to see Oden be the All-Star he's "preparing to be." But, the apology is due to fans. It's a sad day. This is just my worthless opinion, but I can't wait for the day when we finally wash our hands of him and move on. I would be surprised to ever see Oden on the court for Portland again. I never expected much from him because I thought he was a bad pick. But, I'm tired of watching my friends (Blazer fans) be so optimistic and then have it all crashing down due to one single player. Bye Oden.
I'm shocked that so many people are shocked. For a few weeks, several posters have said that they expect nothing out of him this season, and have written him off. Anything coming from him, they say, is gravy. I agreed. About 24 hours ago, I predicted on this board that he would play under 300 minutes this season. I actually expected him, late in the season, to play about 8 minutes per game for about 3 games, just to try to increase his value since his contract is ending. So I made the safe conservative estimate of under 300 minutes, expecting it to really be under 30.
i really wish i was wrong about oden 2 things tthat make smart men look stupid.... beautiful women and sports
Isn't it just like Portland to beat incredible odds to land a #1 draft pick and to have the amazing rights to either the forward/scorer of the decade or a franchise center/defender of the decade - and to pick a player who has so much potential but ends up playing in roughly 80 games in ?five seasons. Mix, never thought you and I would agree... But, here we are. Another thing that makes even dumb men look worse - alcohol. Combine all three, alcohol, women and sports and you's gots real problems.
Isn't that the truth. Enough is enough. Let him sign somewhere else and become THAT team's problem. It's time to move on.
you "owe an apology" to posters because Greg played in even less games than you were predicting? Does it really make you feel better about the situation to start an "I told you so" thread?
Nope, genuinely feel bad for the fans who so looked forward to Oden's dominate return and were 100% confident he was the missing piece in numerous championships. It's sucks. I owe them all an apology. Besides, don't take the Blazer issues out on me. I gave fair warning. and, no, this is not an I told you so, thread. - it's a simple and kind response to several regular posters who demanded I apologize when Oden comes back this year and dominates. So, I'm apologizing. Sorry.
Given how brutally some of us were attacked for stating the obvious - I don't blame him one damn bit.
So you said you would apologize if Oden came back and was dominant, but instead he's out for the year and you still start a thread to apologize? I dont get it....but I guess this is the least of my worries right now!
Sorry. So sorry. And what would make you think I am a Duck fan? Can't stand those guys. I'm simply on a crusade to stop the noise. It's too loud and poison to the environment.
repped. The only worse than this whole situation are the people who care more about being right or appearing right than they do about anything else.
The only saving grace in all your nonsense posting is that most you weren't even in diapers and sucking on a bottle when I was regularly attending Blazer games and hanging out courtside and chatting with players. I also expect to fully be a Blazer fan by the time you all move on to something else. Oden was broken goods back to HS. Get over it. Seriously. The whining is getting old already, and unless you haven't noticed, it keeps coming around, EVERY single year he's here. Are you too blind to notice patterns?
Touche'. And of course, the whiners who are whining about the whiners who whine about whining. Right? Yes.
