Tampa Bay Lightning forward Mattias Ritola has been suspended two games without pay for hitting Matt Moulson of the New York Islanders from behind.

The league announced the suspension Thursday. Ritola will forfeit $5,555.92 in salary to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 6:13 of the second period in Tampa Bay's 4-2 win over the Islanders Wednesday night, when Ritola charged at Moulson from behind and into the glass.

Ritola was assessed a major penalty.
