That doesn't answer the question. Seems like when Boozer comes back, we have Taj as backup and we could use a better SG than we have.
No But I'd do Taj and Bogans for Fernandez, Mills and Pendergraph Oh wait....no sorry then we'd ... A. Have no Boozer Insurance B. Be unable to use him as a primary principle in a trade for Carmelo Anthony or other major allstar talent
Yes I know Pendergraph is injured and out for the season ..but we have Boozer as Pendergraph Insurance
I think there are better ways to get a better SG. Everything I've seen suggests he still wants to go back to Spain. And he's not playing demonstrably better than the guys we have, either. By the way, I guess those "red flags" on Brandan Roy's knees might have been kind of important. That really blows.
I don't see that Taj + Lu and picks gets you Anthony or other like Top 10 talent I believe that's a pud puller I still see Taj's market comprising the likes of OJ Mayo and on a lower level .... Marcus Thornton/Rudy Fernandez plus Guys that are still evolving like Derozan - nup. Its not really what we need anyway. We need a shooter that can be a secondary handler and put it on the floor and take it in to vary the attack and this 2nd guess offense together with the post game of Boozer...I believe .... would catapult Derrick even further That's why I think hanging on to a luxury like Taj and viewing him in isolation is fuckin nonsense. All the Tajalytes are moist about his cost like it was their own money ..but they fail to realise /accept we've already blown our wad with what we've committed to in Rose, Boozer, Noah and Deng. Therefore the current cost of Taj has zero impact in the next 2 years in our capacity to add signficant free agents Beyond that Taj is not going to be paid $8M plus to be a 3rd big , and as I've said , I see Asik being a defensive game changer in ways Taj never will be notwithstanding the solid element on this end of the floor in his game. If you want someone to back up and put the ball in the hole and provide some interior defense go and buy Nick Collison in the summer at 50 cents in the buck to what Taj will end up costing you , bring Chris Richard back in the meantime and give Taj's minutes to Deng in small ball and Asik in Tall Ball and I betcha we don't skip a beat. 3rd and 4thwheel bigs can be had witthout much hoo haa. And I'm not worried about Rudy and Spain ...obviously such a deal like that wouldn't be done without commitment
In one of the other threads, I posted that the Bulls had 3 guys with 20+ PER. Seems like reality is setting in. Taj is down to 16.4 and Noah to 19.7. Deng's PER (15.2) is now below Korver's (15.3). The good news is Brewer's is up to 14.1 and Bogans is in double figures at 10.3. Your boy Asik has a 9.7 PER. Honorable mention: JJ at 3.3 and Kirk at 0.3
Rudy isn't better than the combination of Bogans and Brewer. As his teammates get more time with him, Brewer is more and more effective. I'd do to Taj and filler for Mayo. That might be an upgrade. I'd have to see more of Mayo though. Memphis might go for that because they probably have to pick between Gasol and ZBo, and they might be able to move ZBo for something nice then since he is an expiring contract, too.
Rudy's better than Bogans and probably a bit less a player than a healthy Brewer. He brings something the Bulls need, which is 3pt shooting and ballhandling skills at the SG spot. Using a combination of players means you're playing 4 on 5 at one end of the court when one guy is in and 4 on 5 at the other when the other guy is in.
And no, I wouldn't trade Asik for Rudy, simply because you don't trade big for small and you can't have enough bigs. I posted this because some guys in the blazers forum thought they might be able to get Asik for Rudy. Interesting to see Bulls' fans side of that proposition.
Both those guys (and Rose) held Parker, Ginobili, and Hill to 55 points on 21 of 34 shooting. We lost by 9. If we had scored 22 points instead of 13 at the SG position, the game would be OT.
Not only that, Rudy has a better than 2:1 assist:turnover ratio (2.1 APG in 20 minutes) and 1.1 steals in 20 minutes.
Well, I'm looking at Rudy as a guy that for two years now, has regressed in his play. The Blazers are getting desperate for help, and they're going with other guys. On the other hand, Brewer and Korver both seem to be coming on for us, and by the numbers they both rate out better.
I'm not sure I'm seeing the numbers the way you do. Aren't Korver+Rudy way better than any combination of the three we have?
No, I wouldn't do that trade. Already, I'm not sure that Asik is that much worse of a bigman than Rudy is a SG. Asik's biggest problem is that he gets in foul trouble, but after watching him, it's clear to me that it's not because he's a clod or a tyrus-clone. He plays the game well. If anything I think its because he's so unknown and the refs don't give him the benefit of the doubt. Asik is a useful player.
Yeah and if Taj goes 3-7 with a couple of FT's instead of an o'fer, the bulls probably win too. Bulls don't need anymore offense. They were leading the Eastern conference until a couple of days ago. They need to play better defense as you so inadvertently pointed out.
