I think Yahoo sports says its agreed upon in principle. Guess they're waiting league approval.

Bayless is a separate trade I'm pretty sure.

Either way, IF* this goes through, I'll be happy. I'd like to see how JB plays for us as a PG. He'll be given a lot of freedom; could get very interesting

    Dunno what this trade accomplishes.

Bayless isn't a point guard. He's a much better 2 guard so I don't know what this accomplishes for you.

I wonder what percentage of fans watch the dunk contest? In my time I've watched parts of three of them.

The dunk contest is pretty appealing to younger fans and probably the most anticipated part of All-Star weekend. I'm sure a majority of casual fans watch the dunk contest.

That seems like cherry picking on the stats. You picked stats from 11 out of the 127 games that he played for the Blazers. JB can score some, but did it inefficiently. He's a career 40% shooter; 29% from the arc. Decent FT shooter, though. He played most of his time at backup PG, so most of his stats are at the point. His Ast/TO ratio has always been poor. He works hard on defense, but he isn't very effective at it. That might get better with more PT. He had 9 pts, 2 rbs, 2 asts in 18 minutes with the Blazers last year. Not awful, but not good. The Blazers kept a rookie second round pick to play backup PG and let JB go for the Hornets protected first rounder.

Bottom line, what I saw when he was here was a SG in a PG's body.

    Hence, the oldguy moniker. Duh!

Or, maybe I just don't pay much attention irrelevant players on irrelevant teams. (But, there could be senility involved, too.)

It has been done. The deal has gone through and both players are expected to play Wednesday according to Devlin's blog.

    Yaaaay!! No more Jack!

Peja's not that old but his scoring touch has diminished. I suppose we'll let him camp behind the arc.

To me this is exactly the kind of trade we've come to expect. We pick up these stars on the back-end of their careers, do nothing with them, then let them go. Bayless is a medicore prospect at best and at worst the combination of Peja/Bayless further cuts into the playing time of Sonny Weems (who at present is arguably the best prospect on the team, DeRozan and Davis included).

At least we lose our team leader and most determined competitor in the process.

Also I was always irritated by the Eastern Euro fans who would show up to Raps games when Sacto was in town just to cheer for Peja (oblivious to the game itself). Them and the Yao Ming fans. Suppose we'll be getting Yao once his legs have been replaced with wicker replicas.

Yeah, Jack was always a game competitor, something the raps always need. I think this move makes Barbosa the raps' backup pg and JB will probably be the 3rd pg/3rd sg. Meh, who cares.

You can be competitive, but when you run down the court and call your own number almost 95 percent of the time, and your the PG...you need to go.

Wait, who are you talking about? Because, I'm pretty sure you just described Jarryd Bayless.

    Jarret Jack.

But I don't expect Bayless to come in and do that, to be honest. I'm hoping he comes in with an attitude to put the team first. If he's a SG in a PG body than Triano needs to work with that. If not, Barbosa plays back-up and with Bayless it's going to be a fucking track meet on the court LOL.

I know. I was being facetious. But your post and my reply points out the common glaring weakness shared by both Jarrett Jack and Jerryd Bayless - they are both combo guards. Neither is a great PG, or a great SG. If either one is starting at either guard position for your team, you're in trouble. They are two very different players, but share this same weakness.

But, on the bright side, you traded away a older tweener with no upside for a younger tweener with potential.
