http://www.mmatko.com/did-someone-t...m-an-early-submission-loss-to-maiquel-falcao/ Someone recently asked me why they make the clock disappear after 10 seconds left in a round. I honestly had no idea and guessed that maybe they did it to build tension to the viewer since he doesn't know when the round will end. Someone has some explaining to do.
I've read a couple of times over @ sherdog that its because the clock put on the PPV event for the TV isn't always timed right with the official clock. I dunno if that is true or not.
You're first mistake was quoting sherdog lol Did you watch the video? The guy presses start on his clock the moment the fight begins and the round only lasts 4:53/4 seconds.
They did mess up on the time, and that fight should have been ended in the first round, but it doesn't make it rigged or influenced. The clock keeper could have easily just messed up on the timing himself, started the clock too early, stopped it too early. Doesn't mean someone actively decided to cause that to happen. It doesn't make it any more rigged than if a referee in the NFL screws up who really got the ball on a fumble, or after looking at instant replay still calls the touchdown catch wrong, or if an umpire makes a stupid call on the field which erases someones no-hitter. Just because someone screwed up, doesn't make the entire operation rigged or influenced.
Keep in mind that the refs, timekeeper, etc, DO NOT work for UFC. If there was any hanky-panky, it would have to come from the state athletic commission.
Oddly true as I think you can make a case for fixed being different than scripted. And pro wrestling not being a sport.
Yeah as has already been said in this thread, the timekeeper does not work for the UFC, he/she works for the athletic or boxing commission for whatever state or nation the UFC is visiting, as do the referees, officials, and doctors. Also--MMA forum next time perhaps?
I know the commissions run this type of stuff, and I really think they need to answer to this. Especially to Maiquel Falcão as that choke hold was seconds from taking Harris out.
