Shhhh... #1 - The first rule of The Blazers Secret Memo Club is, you do not talk about The Blazers Secret Memo Club. #2 - The second rule of The Blazers Secret Memo Club is, you DO NOT talk about The Blazers Secret Memo Club.
Ooooh a conspiracy theory. I like it ... I have no idea if it's even remotely true or even plausible, but two thumbs up.
a) Oden on one leg is better than Olowokandi ever was. b) Trading Roy won't lead to us getting a high draft pick. We'd still have the talent to contend for the 6th seed and you can't tell players like Aldridge, Miller, Camby, Matthews, and Batum to simply not try.
Wait. Roy is to blame for signing a contract that the team offered him while negotiating with his agent? Another stupid S2 thread, another day.
This will go down as one of the greatest swindles in American history, right behind Milli Vanilli and the Louisiana Purchase: "LOCAL TEAM BAMBOOZLES FANS WITH UNFOUNDED PRESEASON OPTIMISM".
Chance for the Supreme Court to establish precedent about sports franchise sunshine-pumping. Landmark case of "MIXUM v. Mike Barrett"
Oh you've just hit the tip of the iceberg. The conspiracy is so much bigger than that. The Blazers are going to go on to shatter the record for least games won in a season and stack the odds in their favor to grab the number one pick. We're basically getting the lottery equivalent of a Mulligan. We'll take another center, perform pro-active bilateral MF surgeries and use the extended lock out time to rehab secretly. When the season finally starts we'll have forgotten all their lies. They'll pass new guy off as the same center we always had (although he looks different and you have this nagging feeling his name wasn't Carl before the lock out). The Vulcans are gambling that under the new CBA they will be paying players less and/or have non-guaranteed contracts so the new Greg will be a fraction of the cost of the old Greg. They can still charge the fans full ticket price while they're putting a cheap or faux GO out on the floor. They'll send Greg to dental school in return for his silence.
Oden's not bright enough to be an M.D., but he could get into Costco sales and be a floss demonstrator.
BGrantFan- Is Roy responsible for a huge money grab and misleading the team knowing he was hurt? I think so! It's called ethics and personal integrity! Big concept around here! BUT.... If you know you're being paid to be the franchise player and the face of Portland for the next 5 years and ya can barely walk between games, and you're iced most of your off court time? You have a responsibility not to cripple a team from getting better so your family can have an additional 30 million after tax to buy "homes" with! It's not like he's hurt mid season, we aren't a full month into the schedule yet! There's being well taken care of and greed especially if your not seeing the court for weeks at a time! This is why there will be a lockout next year cause 90 million dollar players who play 1 year on those contracts are breaking the NBA in half! 9 out of 10 Blazer fans are buying season tickets for their allstar "Roy" and their first round draft pick Oden, not for Dante and Babbitt! But hey maybe you're the kind of person who lives for the free handouts.... got me! What I find startling rather than "stupid" is how quickly you overlooked doing the right thing and being a real "TEAMATE" for getting yours. Think that's the more telling part of your post! Free lunch always costs someone...... In this case it'll be the Blazer Fans a championship for the next 5 years.... Both Roy and the Blazers Organization have a role in this fraud, but ethics is clearly the big issue here, both have shown little in my eyes and the fans will pay the bill for it!
A yardape callout. Classic. Well? What do you have to say for yourself PapaGrantfan? This should be good. I've got my popcorn ready . . . commence at will.
