Bulls' Gibson hoping to return for Nuggets game

DENVER --- After missing the first game of his two-season career Wednesday night, Taj Gibson said he planned to play Friday night against the Nuggets.

Then again, Gibson says that about every game. It's the way he's wired.

The Bulls were concerned enough about Gibson's sore right foot to fly team physician Brian Cole to Phoenix. However, both Gibson and coach Tom Thibodeau sounded optimistic notes following Gibson's second consultation with a doctor in three days.

"The positive thing is no tears or ligament damage," Gibson said. "It's a bruise deep in the tissue. I just took a day off. They told me to relax and get ready for the next one."

Even without Gibson, the Bulls outrebounded the Suns 57-49.
