19th among starters I believe, just a notch ahead of Taj Gibson. The craziest thing about Aldridge, is he is tied with Gasol for leading the league in minutes for PF.
Wesley shot 48% from 2 38% from 3, he's great in the fastbreak and can get to the basket. Rudy shot 38% 2 37% from 3 and can't do any of that other stuff. Rudy is not good, yet he had a higher PER.
This year, correct. Last year, I'd hardly say he was 'much' better on offense. Matthews just kind of played within the system in Utah, never really having plays called for him. Rudy was supposed to be our bench shooting specialist last year.
Been there, done that. If we're going to start our 3rd "rebuild through youth" campaign in a row we need to first hire a coach who is not opposed to actually putting young players on the court.
What are you trying to debate here? That Rudy had a slightly better PER in his 2nd year than Matthews did in his 1st year? Not sure why the argument is even being made. I'd rather have Matthews, over Rudy. I'd say last year, they contributed about the same amount to their respective teams. Would you rather have Rudy, or something? To me, last year they produced about equal, thus they had a similar PER.
You brought up Aldridge's PER as if to say "aha!" yet PER is in no way the deciding factor in saying who's better than who. It has flaws and Rudy vs Matthews last year is just one example.
I brought up Aldridge's PER as a fact that he's not very good. Your comparison of Rudy and Matthews PER last year is kind of silly. They were about the same in producing for their respective teams and it was evident in their PER's since they were nearly the same. Matthews biggest asset last year was his man defense that he played in the playoffs. He really wasn't a huge threat on offense.
Except Matthews shot efficiently while doing it and Rudy didn't. He was better than Rudy last year yet Rudy still had a higher PER and you can't explain it.
A PER of 15 is "average" by definition according to Hollinger. Aldridge is 2 points better than average, at least according to your reasoning.
Fuck blazers are blowing it so fucking hard it'd make a whore on 82nd jealous. didnt see the second half did we just lay a fucking egg in the 4th or what?
Kobe Bryant abused Wesley. Just killed him in every game. A GameScore of 20 in each game of that series, which is unreal and the only series in his career that Kobe has done this.
Perhaps do your homework on PER. There is more that goes into it than shooting efficiency. Sounds about right, there wasn't much a difference between Matthews and Rudy in terms of producing for their teams. Am I supposed to be an outrage that two players had similar below average PER's?
Kobe scored his average, I agree. But, that was what he was hyped for and eventually got his big pay day for. People in general were raving about how he guarded Kobe and Carmello.
But, Aldridge isn't supposed to be just an "average" player. This is a guy who every year is devastated that he doesn't make an All-Star team. Fans around here think he's a stud and anytime a trade scenario comes up about him people scoff at it.
Yes, because Matthews was clearly better than Rudy last year who was horrible. For Rudy to have a higher PER tells me all I need to know about it. To use it as some deciding factor between two players is just silly.
Matthews best asset was supposedly his defense. He wasn't some kind of offensive juggernaut like you would like to believe. The fact that he and Rudy had similar PER's sounds about right. PER is a commonly used measuring stick for a players efficiency for reason. Not because it is some kind of bogus formula. But, carry on. Continue to think that LMA is great and walks on water.
Obviously you just don't get it. And yes, PER is by no means the best measuring stick in deciding who's better than who. Again, Matthews vs Rudy is just one example. And yes, Matthews was better than Rudy last year. So no, you go ahead and carry on. I'm done here.
You're right. Aldridge's average PER is just an aberration. PER is bogus. I love when people bash on PER, because they don't get the result from it they'd like to see.
