You hear that 'all NBA players have the skills to be very good players'...do you think this is true? Is it all about the effort you put in behind the scenes or are a lot of NBA players just incapable of being very good?

Hell no, you have to remember. Some of these guys are just D leaguers who wildly overachieved, and are now backups, there's a limit, some of these guys just aren't getting any better.

Well I think people are born good, born with certain skills, or were good in basketball naturally. Some palyers arent just like that, may it be their size, upbringing, etc.I think it all depends on how hard they train as a young person, doing that gives you more time to develop yourself. That, and the natural basketball gene.

No. It takes skills to be great players. No matter how hard you work, you have to have talent and skill to be a great player in the League.

Definately a lot has to do with dedication and its regardless of age. Any player can be great, but not many people have that in them. Not that they wont practice, but to have the desire to stay after everyones left. A great example is Steve Nash.

I believe so, not exactly great players but good players. Work ethic is one of the most important things in getting better, along with heart and dedication. With practice you can become a good player but you gotta have talent if you wanna be a superstar in the NBA.

Yes... every player has the potential to be an above-average NBA player or a superstar, but only a few players reach that elite status. It's not all about talent, but talent plays a huge part in it... as does work ethic, dedication, heart, desire and something I haven't seen mentioned yet: a desire to truly learn the game of basketball from a mental standpoint.Look at Chris Webber... he is still a solid player despite losing a lot of his athleticism. Why? Because he plays a lot more with his mind. He makes the smart play (or atleast tries). That was a huge reason why Jordan was so great, and why most of the all-time greats were so successful. They were just above everybody else in the game from a mental standpoint.

In comparison to other NBA players, there are some guys whoa ren't good. However, every NBA player has gone through D1 ball, and would destroy even the most skilled of high school players. NBA palyers are all good to an extent, but some are in fact there on natural gifts
