According to GracieFighter, official website/soapbox for all things Team Cesar Gracie BJJ, Nick Diaz is willing to move up from welterweight to fight rival Jason Miller at a catchweight of 178-lbs. Diaz recently fought Scott Smith and Frank Shamrock at catchweight but since winning the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship has been staying at 170-lbs. Miller has been fighting at middleweight (185-lbs.) since late 2006 and claims that a weight cut below 182-lbs. is out of the question. So... I guess the proposed grudge match between Diaz and Miller is going to happen later than sooner, if ever. Seems to me like Strikeforce should be focusing on the fact Diaz is their champion and should be defending his belt.

Wouldn't this be a good move for SF? Daley is the only guy who sounds like an interesting title defense for Diaz but he says he wants to fight Noons which could also be a good fight for SF. They don't want to blow their load on Daley too quickly I would imagine so why not let him fight Noons and some other WWs and you can pretty much make a Daley-Diaz fight at any time. Diaz-Miller has marketablility, it has an angle as a grudge match and its two guys who can really promote a fight. Seems like they should strike while the iron is hot on the whole Gracie vs Mayhem thing- not that its hot right now but its only going to get cooler lol.

If Strikeforce was bustling with competition at either division then its probably a bad idea but it seems like they can use as many marketable fights as they can get. They're not in a position to be denying fights like this when Fedor, Overeem, Hendo, etc. are so difficult to get to fight. Unless they're trying to get Mayhem a shot at the 185 belt or they insist on Daley fighting for the WW belt immediately I don't see why this fight would be a bad idea for them.
