Really good read and it also says that Cho is trying to make a trade everyday to improve the team. Sounds like Nate is staying though unless the team really implodes.

anyway enjoy.... and im assuming the end of era means nate but if im wrong im sure you guys will glady point that out for your old pal mixum!

Definitely. So much speculation confirmed in this informative article.

The "end of era" in this article quite obviously means Brandon Roy, Iso King and All Star, not Nate.

Some of us have been saying for a while now that McMillan was never a very good coach, and that our overall talent had carried his inadequacies. He relied so heavily on Roy and the pick and roll, but now that Roy is not one of the ten best players in the league, the team is floundering. Can Roy adapt his game and play through this? Sure, but will McMillan adapt his coaching philosophies to match?

might be both..... but the article also seems to speculate nate will not back more then roy is done. theres even a certain part saying 6 years is a long life for nba coach. it also says that roy will need a new style which again signals coaching change which means a new era and new style for blazers basketball.

    thats my take...

Seems pretty obvious that Roy is likely to outlast Nate, given that Roy has a 5 year no-cut contract and Nate doesn't.

Unfortunately, by the end of Roy's contract, Nate may well be a better coach than Brandon is a player.

I guess it all depends on how you perceive Nate as a coach. Right now I'd say Roy has a long way to fall before he'll reach Nate's coaching level.

Yes... but he is falling. If you compute the velocity of his fall you'll see that he'll cover that distance in short order.

Well, it also depends on whether Roy will even be able to play out his contract. He might be forced to retire.

    Two errors in the article:

    1) It claims that Oden turns 22 next month. Not true. He turns 23.

    2) It claims we are 4 games behind 8th place New Orleans. Not true. We are 2 games behind 8th place Phoenix.

I thought New Orleans was a top 4 team in the West?

New Orleans is only 1 game behind the #4 seed.

Cho isn’t averse to making a trade. He has potential expiring contracts of Przybilla and Miller to use before the Feb. 24 trade deadline, but he has to keep Oden’s situation in mind. If he deals Przybilla or Miller, a player or players – and their salaries – will come back to Portland’s payroll.

“There’s not a day goes by that I don’t look closely at the roster and think about trying to improve the team,” Cho said. “So yeah, (a trade) is a possibility.”
