The way this season is shaping up, I hope Mills and Johnson get as much time as possible ... same with Batum. We might as well figure out what we have with these young guys sooner rather than later and see if they can develop into something worth holding on to.
March 14, 2008. After exactly 500 games. Of course, Bowen was a dirty player and it was inevitable. Well, it makes me feel better that it's happened to someone else. Although Miller's streak is 632, so this is probably the record. Anybody else you remember?
Miller should broker a deal with the league. Pay double the fine and agree to be pulled out of the game right away. It was a dirty play, but no streak should end because of that. I am pleased as punch that someone on this team finally nutted up and hit someone though
I must be missing something from yuyaza's video because I didnt see Miller do anything. I saw Griffin push him in the back on the rebound. Thanks DeanM... much better video. I was at the game and didnt see that shove by Miller. I still dont think its worth a suspension. There where harder fouls in the game that nobody is getting suspended for.
The obvious solution is to get the whole team sick with the flu so the game is forfeited, and there is no game to miss, then the streak lives on!
Could not remember exactly on the number for Bowen but agree that his streak should have been snapped alot sooner. Cannot remember it happening to anyone else. Just happy it is not due to another damn injury.
In the 2009 playoffs Derek Fisher was suspended a game for a pretty similar play on Luis Scola http://www.nba.com/lakers/news/090507derekfishersuspended.html Pretty clear Miller deserves the suspension.
Not so similar, in that Fisher drove his shoulder in and up, snapping Scola's head back. Going after the head/neck is qualitatively different, IMO. Miller just ran into Griffin from the side. That said, I don't think Fisher deserved a suspension either, so I don't think it's pretty clear that Miller did. A flagrant? Sure. Suspensions should be for something more serious.
Griffin gave Andre (another) shot to the back, and Andre responded in kind at his earliest possible opportunity. It's not like Andre was lying in the weeds, waiting, and attempted to injure him. Andre got hit, Griffin turned and ran up the court, and Andre immediately went straight up to him and put a 'hard' body on him under the basket, as Griffin had done to him at least two times, at least in Andre's opinion. I think it was totally justified and appropriate, unless you think the Blazers should just be everybody's bitch.
Nice work Dean! Good for Dre! I laughed my arse off after seeing this replay! Good for him. If LMA or Roy were to get some nuts we'd be 13-7 instead of 9-11. I gotta tell ya, I'm really liking Miller.
Griffin was definitely getting the Durant treatment from the refs in that game. At least two of LaMarcus' fouls on Griffin that I saw were straight BS. Then they were letting Griffin get away with pushing guys all over the place. No wonder he gets so many offensive rebounds. If the refs would represent the game and not Stern's interests, Joel and Andre wouldn't have to take enforcement into their own hands.
Aren't you the rebel. It's clear the league has set a precedent on what deserves a suspension and what doesn't. Miller's play clearly meets that precedent and the Fisher play is just one example. Not much to argue here.
I am bummed that dre's streak ends, but he definitely gave griffin a pummeling BTW, I got two tickets for sale to Tues game in 200 section (MGB's) for $60.hit me back or at Barrett's site or at Twitter ,same moniker.as I am somewhat unfamiliar here.
