Well he can't be much worse than what we have now. Brewer would be alright if he could hit anything outside of 10 feet from the basket, but his eFG% on jumpshots is a Shaq-like 27%.
On second thought, I think we definitely ought to do it. Let's see how many garbage no-talent fringe NBA SG's we can get on one team. Bogans, Brewer, JJ, Kyle Weaver. What is Eddie Basden doing these days? Does Kevin Ollie still play? Cory Carr? I'll make a bet that the combined PER from everyone who plays SG for us this year is less than Derrick Rose's.
My only explanation is that Weaver must have a hell of Tude that makes him hard to work with. Otherwise, he looked like he belonged on the court in the preseason games in which we saw him. That's more than you can ask for from a young rookie.
I know that's the word among the Bulls' message-board faithful. Apparently he didn't make it to practice or tape sessions on time so Thibs axed him. He seems like he'd be decent, but it's hard to say just how good he is. He was playable for OKC, but he definitely wasn't a world-beater. He evoked memories of Trenton Hassell. I guess whether or not we pick him up can be used as a gauge for how hopeless management feels about the SG situation. I mean, if we take on a 9th man with attitude problems because he's that much of a marginal improvement over what we have, the Bulls would kind of be like that creepy old guy who hangs out at the college bar, with their level of desperation.
FWIW, the team looked dangerous with Korver on the floor last night, who played large stints with the starters. Korver is a strange player. He's actually a pretty good passer and rebounder, but he makes way more mistakes than you would expect from a player with his experience. I think he just has a slower learning curve, which is fine. The Bulls made a ton of turnovers and didn't play especially well with him in the lineup, but he just opened up the entire court. Korver is a bad defender, but I think I might be joining the DaBullz camp of starting him. He brings so much to the team offense.
