According to Canzano the insurance on Roy's contract covers everything except knee problems making him virtually untradeable.

Why would we want to trade Brandon Roy?

I would need to see proof because that doesn't make sense.

According to Canzano if "The Vulcans" want to show the fans that they are really serious about winning they would make a move that would shake up the roster.

Brandon Roy is untradeable regardless of what his insurance pays. I assume you are looking at him as an expiring contract if the insurance did cover the knee?

What doesn't make sense? His knees are uninsured for the same reason you can't buy flood insurance in the Ninth Ward in New Orleans. Insurer's are in the money making business, not the money spending business.

Now I really wish he would medically retire.

We're now paying superstar money for a part-time player who's nowhere near the level he once was.

Is there any possibility of re-structuring his contract? Roy seems like a guy who would do that kind of thing for the betterment of the team.

I don't see that at all. He's team-first ... as long as that also means Roy-first. I've never seen anything from him to indicate otherwise.

I think of him as a competitive guy who thinks he's the best. But, he still seems like a team-guy to me. Its a long shot, but maybe worth a try.

I wonder if it is chronic knee pain that isn't covered. I find it hard to believe if Brandon blew his knee out during a game that it wouldn't be covered.

Heck if I'm an insurnace company, I make all policies to not cover knee injuries.

Can you offer Roy a front desk job if he retires . . . with the same pay of course. :D

What would you get insurance that doesn't cover his knees?

    That's a riot.

Since day one he's refused to change his game or learn new tricks or come off the bench or even just STFU and do what his coach tells him.

But he'd voluntarily donate his own $ to the club's billionaire owner?

Brandon had bad knees before we drafted him and it likely showed up in the insurance physical.

As for him being "virtually untradeable" that's ridiculous.

Fantasy Basketball owners in many leagues have traded him already, and I'll certainly field offers for him on my Yahoo team.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
There are very few "team guys" who put the team ahead of their own financial interests. And it usually happens after they've made tens of millions, like Tim Duncan.

Nothing I've seen suggests that Roy is such a rarity in terms of how he values the money he's paid. And that's fine...I wouldn't expect him to give any of it back.

No. The present CBA doesn't allow it until after the 3rd year, and if it did, the players' union certainly wouldn't allow it. Plus, it can't be diminished in terms of money.
