NBA players are all of course above average basketball players, but when comparing them among each other, who do you consider to be just average? The player that comes to my mind is Matt Harpring.
Average means not terrible at anything but not neccesarily great at anything either. I would have to say Najera.
On the Raptors, Joey Graham. I dont see how you could go from below average to above average though. Wouldnt you have to stop at just average?
I would say Jarvis Hayes is the average borderline, alot of players are the same skill level as him, although he is a young talent i'm talking about his skill level now, not counting his injuries.
People think that Hayes is just average now because they look at his stats. The guy has been surrounded by knee injuries since last year. If he had gotten to play almost all 82 games, I think he'd average 15 ppg rather than 9 ppg.
Great topic.I'd say a guy like Morris Peterson is average in terms of overall skill. Mo is more unselfish and a better shooter than most guys, but in terms of what he briongs overall, I'd say he's average
Chris Mihm. He isn't a bad player, in fact I like him. He is a good rebounder, a good shot blocker, and can also score a few buckets at times. He can go into "kill mode" some nights and drop 20. But those aren't often. He is a solid player, but does nothing special. So I classify him as average. But I will also add that the lack of good centers in the NBA make him look better than he really is.
I think your right, and it's like that with alot of the centers today. If we put the centers from today 10 years ago with centers like Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, a young O'neal, a younger and much better Mourning, then these Centers of today like Mihm, Okur and Ilgauskas would not look nearly as good out on the floor.I think another player that is just an average ball player, but makes the most out of what he has and conrtibutes anyways is Chris Duhon. He is not overly great at anything, and skillwise just very average, but he keeps doing well anyways.

Look at Jermaine O'neal, or now David West.</div>Even look at Dirk how much he has changed. But, Kwame Brown should be put on this list. He never was a great player but, he has always brought some talent to the game. I don't know if he is your perfect average player but he has got to be in the running for it.
To me, an average player is someone who can make an impact on the team even though they might do alot of scoring etc. Players along the 10-15 ppg border. If you look at the Pistons lineup, none of the 5 average more than 20 points, showing that they have great teamwork and selfless players. From the Raps, average players might include: Graham and Bonner.

I'm sure everyone on the board will agree with me. :happy0144: I'd say Graham is average, but Bonner might be below average, against other players in the league.I'd also say Jarvis Hayes is average, as is Antonio Daniels.Shane Battier is another player to add to the mix. He isn't very athletic, but he has the smarts and he's not shabby at defense to be a starter. Keep in mind, he is a team leader, but he doesn't have any skills that stand out.
intangibles. If they help a winning cause, they're above average. If they are hurting the team, they are below average.

They're able to win so many games because they have 5 amazing average players which makes them above average players... hard to explain, aint it?

He hustles and is an intangibles guy, but he is not by any means a good NBA basketball player.

They are all above that bar.Dogma, I don't agree. Stephon Marbury is not the worst player in the game, but he hurts his team like a cancer.
