Good move for the Raptors, but aren't trades not allowed to happen until later in the offseason? Maybe they just agreed to trade them, or maybe I'm just confused.

I know they can happen, I just meant can they be officially done at this time of year? I would think the league office wouldn't accept trade paperwork at this time, and usually trades don't happen until free agent signings begin.

I personally cant remember a trade taking place this time of year prior to the draft. I wasnt aware that teams were permited to do that..
Great move by Bryon there. Rafael doesnt know crap about basketball. He couldnt play for us, because he just sucked the whole time he was out there, and didnt do anything productive. Humphries is in his 2nd year as well, and is not great, but atleast a body who knows what he's doing out there. Whaley is another body too. Solid move.
All hail Colangelo! Another great move by him, getting rid of Hoffa's useless body for two living big bodies. Na im joking, wish Hoffa all the best in Utah.
Eh, it's a garbage in garbage out deal really. Neither guy helped their team and they make little and I think they all expire after the 06-07 season so it's just clearing more cap room for ByronThe Raptors are on the rise, hate to say it

I think Raptors will make a run for the playoffs this year and will be the East's most improved team after the Orlando Magic
the first move of the offseason, and it's a blockbuster! But really, it's hard to tell who the winner was, bc only scrubs were dealt.
Well I already made a post about this (General NBA forum, then it was moved to the Rapors forum) without even thinking to look here lol. Sorry. My thoughts: Toronto's end of the deal It was clear Hoffa wasn't playing in Toronto in 06-07, but they could have gotten a better deal. I mean Whaley is young, but will ride the end of the bench probably his whole career. Humphries is ok I guess, possibly a little better than Araujo, but he's another PF! Bosh, Villanueva, Bonner - now Humphries. That is a logjam at the 4. This is most likely leading to another deal, and if not, this is pointless for Toronto. I, for one, feel that Araujo should have been involved in a bigger deal packaged with a player and the pick for a good center. Utah's end of the deal Not bad. Humphries clearly wasn't getting any extra minutes behind Boozer and Okur. Utah needs a center that will bang for rebounds. Araujo may have bad hands and commit too many fouls, but he will try and do as much dirty work as possible, and can turn out to be an OK post player. A streaky one, but an ok one. He just needs developmental minutes. He will get those in Utah. Trade Winner Utah
How does Utah win? Humphries and Whaley can both play Center. Humphries>Araujo and they are the same age. Humphries know what he is doing and Whaley shouldnt be too bad too. We get too bodies for one. And one of the 2 we get is better than the one we gave away.We obviously win this trade. You've obviously never seen Araujo and how lost he is out on the court.

He is not a banger. He is Matt Bonner with less 3-pt shooting ability. And Whaley, like I said, will find himself at the end of every bench he ever plays on, most likely (but I could be wrong, Kendrick Perkins was the same way at first). He will not play over even Loren Woods. It's best for Utah because they get a guy that will actually play. Humphries will not get any more minutes than he got in Utah as long as Bosh/Villanueva/Bonner/#1 pick is in town. And Whaley will barely play. Hoffa will get decent developmental minutes in Utah and he can help them rebound if anything, and use his fouls (most of the time not on purpose though lol). So that's how Utah wins. Araujo will play a little bit for them, while Colangelo created more of a logjam at PF, unless/until he makes another deal.
