http://www.blazersedge.com/2010/12/10/1868850/stein-blazers-granted-injury-exception-for-greg-oden Sweet! $3.4 mil to use either on a player or a trade.
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception "45-day clock for such exceptions starts when team knows injury likely season-ending. Oden exception expires Dec. 30. " Trade coming soon...
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception So the Blazers can use the extra $3.4M to make salaries match in a trade right?
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception No, can't be combined in a deal with one of our players. We can use it to acquire a player who makes 3.4 million or under. but we can't, say, use it and a 4 million dollar player to get an 8 million dollar guy.
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception Hey, I used to have that exact same photo of Emmanuel Lewis as my avatar for a period of time last year. What inspired you to use it?
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception Oh. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Do the Blazers have to waive a player to use the exception? Or can you carry a 16-man roster if granted the exception? I suppose I could look up Larry Coon's take, but I'm guessing you know the answer.
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception weird. i just googled webster today for an image and it popped up. Just kind of a funny picture.
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception 'Tone just said on the radio they can sign a 16th player, or use it and combine it with another asset to trade for a player.
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception then he doesn't know what he's talking about. Can't combine it, and can't add a spot to the roster, from what I have read.
Technically you can combine exceptions with other assets, but it functionally does you no more good than two separate deals. The exception gets its own "bucket" that can only bring back something of the same size in dollars, and the other asset(s) are their own bucket. They don't combine into one "salary bucket" that can bring back their combined dollar value in one asset.
Re: Blazersx granted injury exception Yep. I was listening to the pre-game show and Harvey and some other dolt kept going on about how we could add a 16th player; how we could combine the $3.4 million with a player in trade for a higher salaried player; and about how super smart they both were for knowing that.
