"Chris Drury was cleared to play after having his left index finger re-examined and X-rayed Sunday. Coach John Tortorella said the captain, who has played just once this season, likely will practice with the team Tuesday and rejoin the lineup Wednesday at Pittsburgh.

"I think he wanted to play tonight," Tortorella said Sunday.

Drury initially was injured in training camp then again hurt his finger Oct. 15 against Toronto.

Drury's return will force a player to the bench. Fourth-line center Erik Christensen played 10:53 against the Capitals and fourth-line right wing Todd White, who has cleared waivers three times this season and is eligible to be sent to Connecticut (AHL), logged just 9:27. Derek Stepan and Artem Anisimov are safe.

"No kids are coming out," Tortorella said. "Somebody's got to suffer, somebody's got to come out but it's not going to be one of the kids.""
