"Marco Sturm will be changing coasts after all. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli last night announced that Sturm was traded to the Los Angeles Kings, pending a physical by the Western Conference team's medical staff. The B's traded the oft-injured left winger for future considerations. Sturm began taking contact in practice Monday, and Chiarelli speculated the veteran would be roster-ready for the Kings in 6-7 days. "It's been in the works a little bit, part of it due to Marco's physical recovery," Chiarelli said. "That's the large part in the delay, and dealing someone like Marco is difficult because he's obviously a really good person. In fairness to Marco it would be good to allow him to begin his new journey at a place that's a good landing spot for him. They were looking for a player like that." The deal drops the team's salary cap number to $57.64 million. The NHL salary cap for this season is $59.4 million. Sturm became the B's second cap casualty since center Marc Savard (post-concussion syndrome) came off the long-term disabled list. Defenseman Matt Hunwick was traded to the Colorado Avalanche for AHL blueliner Colby Cohen." read more: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/hockey/bruins/view/20101212no_kings_ransom_in_marco_sturm_trade/
