Best defender on the team?

Batum has guarded everybody from Steve Nash to Kobe Bryant this season.

My eyes tell me he is the best defensive player on the roster, followed by a grouping of Matthews/LMA/Camby.

 

You caught me. Dammit!

 

I have to. I mean he has potential to be a great defender, don't get me wrong. But, he's not consistent enough.

I also think a lot of people (nobody in general) confuse good help defense with good man-to-man defense.

Without a doubt Batum and Camby are the best help defenders on the team. Matthews, for me, is easily the best man-to-man defender.

 

So has Matthews.

 

Hey, I think that they are both solid defenders. You asked for opinions on who is the "best" defender. I've watched Nic for 2+ years play good defense. Maybe that helps put him at the top of the list for me.

 

Miller is twice the defender that Matthews is, and probably this years team MVP.

 

That's a pretty good point. In fact he's the sole reason why Miami keeps losing to Boston.

But things should improve.

 

Przybilla has more defensive impact than Matthews, Batum, and McMillan combined.

The answer is obvious: Nate.

It's awfully hard to hold an NBA team to 10-15 points in a quarter game after game, yet Nate does it consistently with the Blazers.
