I got bashed for bringing up how we could acquire Iguodala, but then you want us to get Landry who has a 12.8 PER? okie dokie artichokie
Injury exception for a Landry isn't the same as picking up Iggy's $13 million contract in a trade. Although perhaps Philly would be interested if Brand was involved in exchange for Miller/Przy/Oden.
MIXUM, you do know that we can get players back in a trade, right? Przybilla can be traded if we get a big back. Miller can be traded if we get a PG back. It's really not a difficult concept.
Brand/Iggy isn't a bad deal, but I was off on the numbers. I forgot to add LMA, and I will keep Oden. Brand/Iggy for Miller/Przy/LMA/#1 pick. PG - Roy/???? SG- Iggy SF - Matthews PF - Brand C - Camby That's not bad, is it?
I'd do that in a second. But I'd be hesitant to give up any picks. Roy would have to know his role as well.
Here's a probably very unrealistic three way trade with NY and Denver I came up with the other day. Essentially, a deal of Joel, Rudy, Armon for Chris Anderson, Al Harrington, Anthony Randolph and Azuibuike new depth chart of Miller/Mills Roy/Matthews/Azuibuke Batum/Matthews/Harrington Aldridge/Harrington/Randolph Camby/Anderson/Randolph Harrington adds scoring to the bench, Anderson more shot blocking, Randolph... potential? NY trades Gallinari, Curry, Azuibuke, Shawne Williams, and Randolph Gets Carmelo, Rudy, Armon, JR Smith Denver adds nothing of note outside Gallinari for Carmelo, but also moves all long term deals(Balkman to us, who we cut, Anderson and Harrington, and drops below the LT. We take on a decent amount of salary. I'd probably look to either trade Azuibuike's expiring for a backup PG like a Ridnour or Sessions possibly. Or, trade Randolph for a young potential PG.
If Denver is basically looking to use Anthony as a chance to press the reset button, I like the deal. I suspect, though, that Denver wants to get at least one impressive young player/prospect back.
It seems they primarily have stated wanting to get under the LT. Who knows what NY would actually trade, knowing they essentially have Denver by the balls,w ith Carmelo basically saying he wants to go there. But, they get a decent return for basically Gallinari and Randolph, maybe Toney Douglas, can't remember how I actually got the deal to work. It was ugly working it out, though. Randolph and Azuibuike initially go to denver, and then we use our exceptions to take them off of their hands. If they were able to land Gallinari, and remove every contract they have that is even slightly big(Anderson, Harrington) I almost think they'd have to do it. Why not go full reset, and get prospects for Billups, and maybe Nene while you can.
THIS. Being a middling team is just extending the inevitable downward spiral to the cellar by years. Get bad fast. (That being said we still have the same clowns running the joint.) I still can't fucking believe the best young team in the NBA fired their GM to hire the assistant from the team who was trying to chase us down. Fucking L O L Z
The more I think back about Pritchard's time in Portland the more I think it was a failure. He showed he was incompetent at trades outside of the Camby trade and that he was unwilling to trade "his guys". What he was supposedly good at was drafting. So he took chances on guys with pre-existing injuries (Oden, Roy), fell in love with soft PF's (Aldridge and Frye) and stashed multiple picks overseas (Freeland, Claver, Kopennen) that we could of used on proven college guys (Millsap, Blair). To make matters worse, he signs a player who is already starting to break down to a max extension. Bangs the fugliest cheerleader on staff, drafts Luke Babbitt, drafts another guy with injured knees (E. Williams), sells his villa style house in Lake Oswego to a new Blazer and gets the fuck out of town ASAP. Maybe Warkentein was right? I do know I'm going to let the Cho era breathe a little bit before I start piling on him. Shit, looking at our past GM, I might not judge him until Cho long gone.
Really? How many games did he need to see before he dumped Bayless for a future pick, leaving the bench completely devoid of a player who can create his own shot? Thus far, Cho's primary contributions to this team are making the bench weaker and perhaps saving a few bucks on lunches.
May as well at this point. This team is going nowhere and will be lucky to make the playoffs. Could another long playoff drought be in our future as fans?
Here is my problem with that. If you are buying into that then you are buying into the thought that some of the pieces here are capable of getting the Blazers to another level of play eventually if surrounded by the right players. In order for you to say that you have to have an idea of which player you think are suitable. Are you saying you haven't given up on Roy to play at the level he did before? Or are you saying build around Miller, who has never taken a team past the first round. Ever. Are you talking about Wesley? I see a lot of generalities posted by you, but you have posted no answers on how you would get there from here. Which players would you move, which would you build around?
With the right coach, there are several pieces here that could help get us to the next level. Aldridge is a really soild role player, Batum is also a nice role player. Matthews is a guy that, depending on what we brought in, could either start or come off the bench as a really nice role guy.
