The UFC hasn't been in Brazil since 1998 when they were in Sao Paulo for UFC Ultimate Brazil (17.5). This was before White & the Fertitta's were involved with the promotion. The UFC currently has three Brazilian champions (Rua, Silva, & Aldo) and one top contender (HW, Junior dos Santos). * Gracie & Belfort will be making a public appearance at the event but are not expected to be on stage.
The UFC announced it will hold a PPV on Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. DW says they will try and get as many Brazilians on the card as possible. There are currently 36 under contract with the UFC. The event is a long way out so there is no telling what fights could be booked.
