Signs the big contract......soon results in becoming overpaid.......then, sometimes overshadowed by his counterpart (Matthews<-->Anthony) Are there potentially any legit correlations here?
Damon sucked before his big contract, Brandon didn't. Damon didn't have a knee issue. Brandon barely has knees.
my question is just what the heck are we going to do with Brandon? the degree of his decline is hard to believe, and he's under contract for 4 more years after this. Nice team effort tonight but IMO we are better off without Brandon, this being said what the heck do we do?
Grant Hill. Damon Stoudamire didn't get hurt...he just got a contract not justified by his talent at the time.
Bernard King re-invented his career after career threatening knee injury. Roy has to work hard this offseason at his catch and shoot ability.
Roy has done a lot of great things for this team. In addition to his knees, he is dealing with a very different system and new teammates with their own agenda. That can be tough on a young player - even a very talented one. Does anyone remember when Kobe was whining and threatening to leave the Lakers? Kobe won and got who he wanted. The rest is history. And many of the fans there were calling him selfish and asking for his ouster. Yeah, it may be selfish; but, you should listen to your superstar, and Roy clearly does not like the current system and personnel that has been put together to play it. Of course, you could get rid of Roy... And the Lakers could have gotten rid of Kobe too - imagine that.
Normally, I'd agree with this. However, Roy's knees have relegated him to a lower status than superstar. How much lower? The $64,000 question.
Roy is developing one of Damon's less endearing habits - using the media as a weapon against his team-mates. At least Roy is up-front about it, instead of whispering sweet nothings in Quick's eager ear.
