Moreso than fastbreaks, my gripe with Nate's offense is the pace. I don't really mind half court basketball if it involves getting shots close to the hoop without fighting the shot clock every time. We never seem to shoot in that 10-20 second range. If we did, we'd get more shots, and ultimately more chances to score.

Bingo. The longer we pound the ball around it gives teams a chance to set up their defense. Especially when there's virtually no movement off the ball.

Well, the players obviously aren't listening. And, imo, much of what Nate "says" that he's saying to the team is generally bullshit.

Is a call to action to hire Hubie Brown as coach really a thread on this board right now?

When has Miller been a proven uptempo PG?

I thought about Hubie coaching the Blazers too. Then I remembered how old he is and the grind of the NBA. I can't see it.

What I hate about Portland's offense is when a player is wide open for a shot early in the clock, but no one will pass him the ball because they have to set up the play first, then they end up with a contested shot and a miss. You have to take opportunities for wide open shots when you get them.

You didn't watch that Philly team of a couple years ago?

Substitute "no one" with "Miller". Weird how most of the alley-oops don't come from him, isn't it?

It was a breath of fresh air listening to the ESPN announcers tonight, especially Hubie. Brandon and LaMarcus need to hear what they had to say.

Also, Brandon has talked about how the team doesn't have a good rhythm, but the team's rhythm was great tonight...when Brandon was on the bench.

LaMarcus and Miller have to take over this team.

And LaMarcus need to pick and roll, not pick and pop.

He has a vendetta against Dre for some reason. I'd take his comments about Miller with a grain of salt.

Seriously, it takes a great deal of denial to realize that Roy is hurting this team more than he is helping them right now. The announcers were even pointing this out tonight.

The Blazers were doing what Hubie wanted them to do and he was applauding them for it. This tells me Nate was already saying it.

That wasn't an uptempo team. They were 20th in pace, and 20th in efficiency.

As a comparison, the Blazers were 29th in pace, but 2nd in efficiency.

I just posted facts about Miller's Philly team. How is 20th in the NBA "uptempo"? I'm willing to give you a chance to explain it, given your brilliant "Status Cho" gloss.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
+1. Well, at least about the favourite analyst part. Dunno if he's still got it as an NBA head coach. Sometimes, the game passes former coaches by.

Completely different team when Mo Cheeks was fired. I remember vividly them playing uptempo against the Magic in the 1st round when they took them to 7.

When Miller played for the 03/04 Nuggets they were 1st in pace with him at the point on a playoff team. The 04/05 Nuggets were 4th in pace. 05/06 Nuggets were 2nd in pace.

    Just sayin

How did that team do in the playoffs? Or any of those Nugget teams?

    Miller's Ortg in Denver - 110, 109, 107

    Miller's Ortg in Portland - 111, 111

Looks like he's better for the team in a slower pace.

Does he have a son that he's imparted all of his knowledge to? Let's get that guy if he exists.
