It's hard out there for a pimp--especially when you're also a cop

New UFC fighter Sean Pierson scored a unanimous decision win over TUF alum Matt Riddle at UFC 124 on Saturday. The fight was regarded as the best of the night and both fighters were rumoured to have been awarded six-figure post-fight bonuses from Dana White for their efforts. However the best night of Sean Pierson's life quickly turned dour when he got word from the Toronto Police Force that his work contract had been revoked.

Pierson is a full time policeman in Toronto in addition to training MMA with Firas Zahabi & Harold Grant in Montreal. Pierson has 15 professional bouts, all but one in Canada, dating back to 1999. When he fought for the IFC the promoter gave him the nickname "Pimp Daddy" and it stuck with him for years. Following his high profile UFC win, the TPC took notice of his supposed alter-ego and have ended his employment contract pending further investigation. The TPC reserves the right to allow or disallow side employment for officers. Apparently they think a policeman who masquerades as a pro fighter with a pimp image is bad for business.

Now Pierson is in a position where he needs to choose between continuing his UFC career despite his advanced age for a pro athlete (34) or quitting MMA and going back to police-work, which has been his passion. Seems to me that he should see how he can do in the UFC and then try to get a new police job afterward. Easy for me to say.
