Let's have 'em. They have to pass ESPN Trade Machine, mind - and he's BYC, making it EXTRA hard.

Roy and Joel for Vince Carter. Yes, it sucks for us, but Orlando might risk taking on Roy's contract, especially as Carter has been terrible of late. And maybe they can throw in the rights to Fran Vasquez, who is actually a very solid defender at C.

Roy and Joel for Andrei Kirilenko. I actually don't mind this one. Kirilenko's massive contract runs out at the end of this season, but I like him as a player, particularly playing PF in a smallball lineup (which has worked for us of late). And I actually think Roy could be productive in a Sloan system - Sloan got great mileage out of Jeff Hornacek who was smaller and less athletic even than Roy is now. Roy wouldn't be forced to go one-on-one, and if he was on a new team I think he'd put in the effort to change his game a little. Trouble is, the Jazz are cheap.

You think we're going to trade for the only center that makes Oden look vaguely durable? At this point, we'd trade Roy for a stiff, but he'd have to be a healthy stiff.

Whether or not he's trying to, it actually makes a scary lot of sense. He could be a bigger Derek Fisher! And he could play with Blake again. I think Roy would really work in the Triangle - he could be 2000 Ron Harper, complete with crap knees, only with a jump shot!

But please, if we're going to sell out, at least make it worth our while.

Roy and Joel for Stephen Jackson and scrubs. I like wacko Jacko, he's a winner, and he's made noises about wanting out of Charlotte. Meanwhile, Larry Brown will work with veterans who have talent even if they have "issues" (e.g., Hot Plate Williams' obesity issues). Mark Jackson played successfully for Brown for years, despite having no speed and and no shot.

Yeah, I'm sure Roy will greet that as enthusiastically as Darius Miles. And the Grizzlies would probably gleefully pull the same shit.

There isn't a single realistic scenario anybody can throw out there. Period.

Given the state of his knees, his BYC status, his max contract, the years left and the fact that his production has basically fallen off of a cliff, he is without a shadow of a doubt the least tradeable player in the NBA. If you don't believe me look at the rest of the crappy contracts around the league, he's got them all beat.

    lol.

No one is going to trade for Roy until he has 1 year left on his contract.

You have to look at desparate teams to trade Roy too...teams that want to win a ring but can't because they're missing that one piece. Places like Phoenix or Dallas...and package Roy with Camby and/or Miller for a biggish contract that doesn't do much.

Both Oden and Camby are either too valuable (yes, even Oden - I believe in the Great Pumpkin) or have attractively-expiring contracts for rebuilding. So if it takes them to get rid of Roy, then screw trading him. Unless it's for someone actually good and actually young. And that rules out all of the Mavs we'd acquire there.

In what universe is Roy the missing piece to a championship puzzle? He's already shown he's not very effective in a supporting cast role because of his dodgy off-the-ball skills, he's not a drop dead shooter off of the catch and he can no longer finish. Even if some team is desparate for a veteran point guard or center like Camby they'll just look elsewhere amongst the other 28 teams for a trade partner if taking Roy is the price.

He could magically get better. Might be shutting it down and playing lazy because he just doesn't care because not much chance of winning.

For a team like Dallas or Phoenix, might be good to have an extra option for Roy on pennies on the dollar. They're in the waning years of their contention so do something or go home.

Hey, if his knees are that bad, then we could force him to take medical retirement.
But, to take up your challenge: Michael Redd, Elton Brand, Rashard Lewis, Gilbert Arenas.

I'm not on the boat of trading Roy. There's nothing we can get for him really anyways. I think he's kind of pouting/playing slow because he doesn't like Miller and there's not much chance of winning with Oden so he doesn't really care.

If you're aware of a magic spell that regrows meniscii I'm all for hearing about it. Beyond that, just because a team's window of opportunity is right now, doesn't mean they're going to cripple their franchise with 5 years 85 million on a player who can barely drag his leg around the court.

You people might as well start embracing the hard truth; we're stuck with him for the next few years.

All of those guys have contracts that expire sooner than Roy.

    Next.
