I am excited to share with you that FSN Northwest is announcing our new brand identity today and will become ROOT Sports™ in Spring 2011! As you are a valued partner, we want to make sure that you are among the first to hear the news from us. Over the coming weeks we will be sharing a lot more about what this new brand means to us and to your business, but for now, here are a few key points that we’d like to highlight: The ROOT Sports brand has been in development for more than a year and through our work with fans, creative agencies, focus groups and industry professionals, we are confident that the outcome is the result of a thorough and thoughtful process. By creating and developing ROOT Sports, we have an opportunity to establish a clear and consistent identity and standard of quality - one that will set the stage for ROOT Sports to become the nation’s premiere regional sports brand. It has been nearly three years since our ownership transitioned from News Corp.’s FOX Sports Net division and it is time to develop and support an independent brand as a wholly-owned subsidiary of DIRECTV, along with our partner networks in the Rocky Mountain and Pittsburgh regions. We approach our business with a unique distinction – we are fans, we are rooted in the community, and we are committed to providing a quality experience that connects us to our teams and their fans. That vision is the essence of ROOT Sports. The ROOT Sports logo and identity will be gradually introduced to the market through off-channel and promotional efforts effective immediately, while leading up to the launch of the new brand on-air at the start of the Major League Baseball season in 2011. When the network officially transitions to ROOT Sports, all existing team partnerships and programming will remain intact as will our distribution agreements with cable and satellite operators.
