Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce and San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending December 19. Pierce led the hottest team in the NBA by posting a triple-double and a pair of double-doubles during the week. His 32 points and 10 rebounds paced a 118-116 win over the Knicks, he notched 15 points and 10 assists in a 12-point decision over the Hawks, and completed the run with 18 points, 12 assists and 10 boards in a victory over Indiana. Parker averaged nearly 26 points per contest in three games in the past week, also shooting better than 56 percent from the floor.
