    Waste of time for whom?

What is the opportunity cost of applying for it?

How is the team possibly better off by NOT having applied for it?

I don't understand your point at all.

Hey RoyToy, now that you've mastered the one string banjo, why don't you try two strings?

New Orleans? Maybe. But Memphis? Really? And since when is Chris Sheridan expert on anything?

What, because all of the people above him just got traded?
    And where's Joe Johnson then?

See, here's what I'd like to know about Roy: when did Roy's knees officially die? Was it when they got scoped just before the playoffs last year? If so, that seems like an amazingly small operation to destroy a career. And also if so, he's producing at a better than average clip this season when he plays. He's just not up to BRANDON ROY standards. But he's shown in the Phoenix game that he can produce once in a while. So yes, he's a toxic asset, but I betcha there's somebody in the league ready to take a chance on him. As Ric Bucher said - at least 6 teams have called about him. (If we believe Ric Bucher.)

"Trading skills"? WTF? According to whom, and how would they know? He's never been a GM before, so how can they tell? Maybe he's a genius because he's convinced other GMs he's a rube.

Rasta: To hear Roy tell it (in Marc Stein's weekend dime piece the other day) they operated on his one "good" knee back in April and that he'd been compensating for his other gimpy knee for some time. Now with two bad knees, he's not able to compensate.

I'd like to see some specifics from the critics; what feasible deals that work capwise and improve our team do you suggest?

I'm just going to throw this out there...

It was reported by Bucher that 7 or 8 teams have called about Roy. They obviously would trade for him if the price was low enough. By Sheridan's definition, that must mean that every other player in the league has 8 or 9 teams or more willing to trade for him. I don't see that.

At least one player on my "Untradable" list above B-Roy.
    1) Yao Ming.

I don't know about Cho's trading Skillzzz, but from all the info being rumored WE'RE the ones vetoing borderline good trades, not the other way around (iguodala notwithstanding). It'd be one thing if it was being reported that Cho couldn't get anyone on the phone for trade purposes, but we're hearing that "8 teams have called". My gut feel is that he's playing poker and not wanting to see how much his hand improves before making a deal, but not saying anything publicly. From a fanbase used to KP's "thousand phone calls a week" that ended up as Von Wafer, that could look like inaction. I prefer to give the guy a break. Nothing's happened this season yet to make me think "Crap! Why weren't we in on that?!?!"

I'm close to someone who has had two extended conversations with Cho at games. He was surprised to see that Cho is this shy nerdy guy with braces who didn't impress him at all as being someone who has the confidence to broker deals that would help our team. Unless Cho has some other secret business side to him, this is very depressing news. Where's Danny Ainge when you need him? Or even Joe Dumars? Those guys are competitors who knew what it took to build a champion and had the guts to go after the players who would get them there.
