Well, it won't be a fan vote, it'll be the coaches' vote. I don't know how influenced they are by ESPN (I honestly don't know, that wasn't snide). If Aldridge continues to play at a high level, he may actually merit it. He's not that far behind Griffin right now, so if he continues to keep his production high, he may catch Griffin in terms of actual on-court impact.
That's exactly what I was thinking... Griffin is anointed... along with Durant. They are the future anointed forwards of the west.
LMA isn't an All-Star this year. I'm fine with that, there are players that deserve to be in the game over LMA...Griffin and Love have had more impressive seasons so far..
Thinking about Griffin made me wonder this......could Aldridge work on his vertical and get more athletic? The guy is talented but doesn't really jump out of the gym compared to other players. I am just wondering because if he added 3-4 inches to his vertical some of these dunks he is throwing down now would be spectacular.
Griffin isn't demanding double-teams, is on a terrible team, and can't defend. Love isn't demanding double-teams, is on a terrible team, and may be the worst front-court defender in the NBA. LMA demands double-teams, isn't on a terrible team, and gets more respect league-wide defensively than many posters here would give him. If young stat beasts who don't play defense while on terrible teams deserve to be All-Stars, then Zach Randolph should have twice been an All-Star for the Blazers. If LMA is a 20/10 player after another month, and if the Balzers are +.500, then bypassing him would be perhaps the biggest snub in recent years. At his current progression, LMA would hit those numbers by mid-Janurary. Griffin will probably make it because it looks like teams are rotating defenses on him in the last week or so; on the other hand, I get the feeling that coaches actually want Minnesota to run their offense through Love instead of Michael Beasley.
love and griffin could make it, but they are certainly not locks. it all depends on how the coaches weight team performance. LMA is not currently a realistic candidate, but he could be if he averages > 20/10 for the next three weeks and the blazers stay above .500
I honestly don't think he's deserving on his play so far, but I was just wondering where you guys think he stands.
Love is doing something that hasn't been done in almost 30 years. I think you'll be surprised and he gets the coaches vote.
Moses Malone did it on a title team and while being doubled in the post. I didn't see Love doubled a single time last Friday, he had to be pulled off of LMA in the 1st quarter, and he picked up 3 quick fouls on Griffin last night. I'd take LMA over Love on my team any day and every day.
who is the last all-star from a team that was winning at a 21% (or lower) clip? Griffin's Clips are rolling through the league winning 28% of their games. Griffin and Love sucking on D is a pretty big part of their team's not being able to win basketball games IMO STOMP
Lamarcus is putting up inferior numbers while playing better defense for a middle of the road team....you take away the last 4-5 games against absolute trash opponents and he's not playing all that great this year. The bad team argument only goes so far...There is absolutely no doubt Love and Griffin have had better years thus far...while either of these guys are good 1 on 1 defenders, they both crash the boards much better than LMA...I really like the way Lamarcus is playing but I'm not gonna sit here and downplay two fantastic players because they play for poor teams..That is just dumb.

Your argument against his 20/15 not being worthy of an AS appearance is because he doesn't get double teamed? Not sure if you've been watching but LMA sucks when he's double-teamed. Nobody has averaged 20/15 in 28 years, shitty team, or not.
I think Aldridge's play is too little too late when it comes to making the All Star team this season. If he continues to play like this for the next month and we WIN, then he has a shot but I think it's too late to pass the players in front of him statistically. And don't forget about Lamar Odom. 16/10/3 on 59% shooting.
