Don't think he defends worth sh*t but he was a real nice player for a few years. Anyone know exactly what the deal with him is? Great shooter, great scorer, a bit of a combo guard. Did excellent with the Wizards and Spurs, went to NY where you'd think he would thrive under D'Antoni and hes been completely invisible.

I thought Mason kinda failed in SA.

Started 71 games for them one year. The other he came off the bench and only put up 6.3 ppg. Probably damaged goods since he just signed in NY and hes played 1 game and they're cutting him. Whether it be injuries or just flaws in his game, you'd think he could play under D'Antoni though.

Then again he can really score and we could use any production off the bench. But realistically hes probably done.

Well, Mason is only 30 years old, and 2 years ago with the Spurs he played all 82 games and scored 11.8 PPG, shooting 42% from three. Doesn't look like he's ever contributed much else as far as rebounding, assists, steals, etc. Which is why I asked if he can defend because usually you need to defend in order to get run under Popovich (unless you're a star).

But I was figuring hey, if NY is tossing him on the scrap heap, and all we really have is Williams off the bench (Carney is more SF), it wouldn't hurt to grab him and give him a try. He's only making $1.4 mils...

Are we sure this isn't an issue of New York having to make room on its bench for Kelenna Azubuike, Bill Walker and Toney Douglas?

I'd take Mason considering our bench isn't very deep.

Our bench has been really weak this year. I actually miss Jamaal Crawford. It's that bad.
