Good luck, Jeremy. Bring along some Jackie Chan Drunken Master vids. It's your training time .

Warriors' Lin likely headed to D-League

It looks like Jeremy Lin will be headed to the D-League, possibly as early as this week.

When asked recently whether the Warriors were considering sending Lin to the team’s affiliate in Reno, Warriors general manager Larry Riley responded: “It’s possible. I’d say that’s something that’s on the table.”

Lin, an undrafted rookie out of Harvard, has played in 16 of the Warriors’ 25 games this season, averaging 1.9 points in eight minutes per outing.

New owner Joe Lacob acknowledged in August that it was his decision to sign Lin to a guaranteed contract. The signing happened in late July with the purchase of the team from Chris Cohan not yet complete.

Lin likely won’t go to the D-League, however, until Stephen Curry is fully recovered from his sprained right ankle. Curry has missed the past three games because of the injury, although there is a chance he could play Saturday at Portland.

He needs it. Law is clearly more ready to contribute right now. Lin has to work on keeping the defense tight without fouling, beating the press, shooting, running an offense, and just needs more playing time overall.

Yeah, and it will be nice for him to get some heavy minutes with a chance to win games. He needs to get his confidence up and feel what it's like to do good things again. It seems like every NBA appearance he's had so far he's just been in over his head. At least in the D-League he will be a featured player vs. an afterthought.

And yeah, Law is money right now. I was bummed when GS lost him, and I was stoked when he got cut and GS picked him up. I really, really think he will be an MVP type player off the bench for GS, once Curry comes back. He won't get great numbers but he'll really solidify the position at PG. Great, scrappy defense, great attitude, great handles, good passing, and tough-nosed -- he can finish on the fast break and in the lane with contact. I think his attitude will really help set a good tone on the bench and in the locker room.

I see him like a poor-man's Battier or like a poor-man's Haslem. His numbers won't tell the story. Instead, his impact will be measurable in presence, chemistry, and wins. I know it's a lot of gushing about Law, but I have a good sense about things like this. Not something I would've said about a guy like CJ Watson.

I'm not that high on Law but he was excellent last night. He doesn't shoot that well, isn't that athletic, handle and passing isn't that good. I like the effort on defense and hustle. He can finish alright. Just not really good at any one thing. I think we'll get some good performances from him but unless hes improved a lot recently he'll be erratic and have at least as many games where hes invisible. Either way though we desperately need someone who can handle PG duties and make some things happen, not be a liability.

I wonder if Jeremy will get a nice Christmas gift of being sent down to the D-League since Curry is expected to be back on Saturday against Portland.

I'm still fairly high on Lin. Just because you spend time in the D-League doesn't mean that you're done for. I think he'll make for a decent reserve one day. It may take a couple of years to get there, but he's the type of guy that can. I wish him the best of luck.

I share the same sentiments. My post above was sarcastic, in case you guys couldn't tell. But, Lin is one player that could benefit a lot from the D-League.

I totally agree, I actually think the D-League will make Lin a better NBA player long-term. He's had a taste of the NBA... he's struggled... which is great, now he knows what it's really going to take, now in the D-League, he can get more run, be a featured player, step it up and work on those things that he'll need to be an expert at in order to survive swimming with the sharks...

Also agree with you guys. Hes shown some distinct positives; excellent ball hawk, great desire on defense, quite good at getting into the paint. He needs to work on a lot but I really like his instincts, hes very aggressive, physical, and, again, and underrated athlete IMO. I think if we stick with him long enough he'll end up being a good reserve guard.
