And why did that bill require a 2/3 majority? Hmm...probably a question you should have asked yourself before posting. The Democrats had the votes to pass it on a simple majority vote, yet chose not to do so. It's politics, plain and simple.
Just to clarify, the democrats going for that extra 1/6 is more newsworthy than all those republicans that don't want us to raise taxes on off shore tax loophole accounts?
The issue was PAYGO as well as illegal alien benefits in the bill. The bill did have Republican support, just not to the level of 2/3. Using the first responders on 9/11 as a political tool was beyond shitty. Just let Congress vote on the 9/11 portion and it will pass. Peter King was working on that bill for four years.
It seems there was already a court ordered settlement in place. That's good. But I also agree that Congress continues to play politics.
