Now that is a trade (even if Portland needs to kick in a bit more) I'd love for Miller.

While I don't think Roy deserves derision, that's not a problem. The team doesn't need to build around a reserve quality player.

I'd do Dre and NO pick for Harris. No Nic, though. Kinda hesitant about giving up Rudy also, but I shouldn't be.

I'd happily give up Miller, the pick and Rudy without any hesitation. I wouldn't throw in Batum, though.

I'd give up Nic, and I'm a huge fan of him, if it meant we got Derrick Favors. Otherwise, no.

Harris would fit the mold of 'rebuilding on the fly"

    Harris
    Matthews
    Batum
    Aldridge

That's a solid group moving forward.

+1 to this. I'm not adding young pieces to Denver just because in this deal. I think Favors and picks is plenty for them. However, if they for some weird reason preferred Batum, no hesitation here.

And agreed, it's a good rebuild on the fly. Not really rebuild, but it's a swap out of a guy who is helping our team, but is getting old, for a much younger player. Changes the dynamic of the team a bit, but, with Roy out, that's a really good defensive lineup of Harris, Matthews, Batum, Aldridge, camby.

Wonder why they want Nic so bad. Mello said he would resign there if tradedd.

Maybe it has something to do with how Nic always frustrates Melo so much when guarding him?

It is Denver that wants Nic.

Harris is a pretty good player, but giving up Nic, Rudy and Miller just to get him strikes me as somewhat too steep a price to pay for a guy who hasn't been the picture of durability throughout his career and while good, probably still falls somewhere in the 2nd tier of point guards around the league. If the goal is to get better, then ditching Nicolas seems kind of counter-productive -- presumably Harris would need players on the wing he can pass to who are capable shooters.

Harris isn't as good as Miller, and he isn't even better at Miller's main weakness - outside shooting.
The question to ask about Harris is, will he work with LaMarcus better than Miller, as Aldridge is currently our franchise player. And I think the answer is a clear no.

Miller/Batum is fair value for Devin Harris. Batum isn't showing the consistency and improvement that would make me think twice about it.

I think the real issue is "timeline," Miller's at the end of his (or very nearly) Harris presumably has a few years left in the tank and is a probably a better option as a defender and as a shot creator when you might actually need a player with some one-on-one ability. I agree that Miller is a better distributor, but for how much longer?

I wonder if Carmelo does or doesn't want to play with Harris? I wouldn't mind trying to give Roy to Denver (not that he's really attractive right now), but maybe they'd give up a bunch of their picks (and Harris) if we would take Outlaw (and his nasty contract) off their hands.

    Outlaw to Portland
Roy/Favors/picks to Denver (Roy would work well with Chauncey and they'd keep the team competitive for the fans at least for a little while.
Mello to New Jersey - they keep Harris, Morrow, and Lopez to stay competitive.

Not saying your wrong, as it's obvious that Harris has much longer in the league than Miller, but what about Miller's game implies to you that he is slipping?

Too steep? I'd consider it lunacy. Thowing in both Nico and Rudy? Has no one noticed that Rudy has exploded since Roy went down? I am OK with trading our older guys while they have value, but it makes no sense to get worse long-term in the process.
