I pretty much agree with this. When we trade Miller, we need to get back a PG who can shoot and who compliments Aldridge. I don't know that Harris is necessarily that guy, but I'd trade Miller for him based on the age factor, but not if we are also throwing in our best young players.
Yeah, I don't get all the excitement about Harris. I think Miller is just as good, maybe even better. There are very few point guards in the NBA who can post up and pass the ball like Andre Miller. I really love his game.
If the move is Miller and Rudy for Harris without a first being included I would pull the trigger. Where I do agree that I don't think Harris would be any more effective with Roy I think Devin would be a better and younger compliment with Mathews, Batum, Aldridge and whomever we throw at center. My opinion though is Portland is now working teams against one another to get what they really want. In doing so they are trying to get the original team they want to trade with to make the move, with fear that if they don't, it won't be available to them soon, and I don't t know that the original team is a team we have heard come up yet.
Portland is going to "outsmart" themselves I think. Typical of this franchise. As for Harris.....Ya, he would be a better compliment long term for anyone on the roster not named Roy, so I am in favor of that.
I'm not saying Miller is slipping really but the track record of guards remaining at peak effectiveness beyond age 35 isn't exactly real extensive. I guess I would expect that he's got maybe another 2 or 3 years left in him, but when one of those years includes a lockout his value to this team is somewhat diminished ... especially when this team is looking at something of a rebuild.
